MEET BEKO!

Beko is one tough cookie, but that doesn’t make her any less sweet! This 10-year-old pomeranian-chihuahua-cartoon mix came to City of Elderly Love after her former owner passed away. She had been cared for by close friends for close to a year, but they could no longer keep up with her medical needs and reached out for help. Beko had emergency spay surgery to repair a major hernia and prevent a serious infection. She also has a heart murmur, which makes any procedures involving anesthesia risky, but she pulled through like the tough cookie she is! She will need heart medication the rest of her life, but she takes it with food — and she loves a good meal!

At home, Beko is a classic small pup who is vocal about letting you know who’s in charge (it’s her world, we’re just living in it). Her sassiness and spunkiness come with a side of sweetness though, and she adores snuggling up to her person on the couch. She also loves her walkies, and still has plenty of energy for some adventures. Beko is mostly housebroken, but does use pee pads as well. Like with any dog, a consistent schedule will continue to help her learn.

Beko has lived with dogs of all sizes, as well as cats, but she would be happy to be the center of attention as your only pet too. She’s also lived in city environments (although she might need help on stairs), but wouldn’t mind a quiet retirement home in the suburbs either!

Beko is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is fully vetted and also recently had a dental cleaning with 10 extractions to get rid of painful and infected choppers. She's feeling better than ever! Interested in adopting her?
