Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I’m Ruby. I’m a youngster with lots of energy. At the shelter they said I was a basset mix. My foster Mom agrees I’m a hound dog mix with some basset somewhere way in the background. I just turned a year old and weigh about 30 pounds. I’m very agile and active. I’m an energetic puppy in other words, which can get me in a lot of trouble but I’m learning to be good because I am very smart. I’m a healthy girl, have had all my vaccinations, I am spayed and microchipped. I’m almost completely potty trained but I will occasionally still have an accident. I go out several times a day, but sometimes I get carried away chasing lizards or bugs and forget to do “my business”. I’m still a puppy, I tend to chew on things I’m not supposed to and scatter papers around but my Mom and Dad are quick learners and don’t temp me by leaving important things out where I can get to them. I’m doing really well with crate training. I used to be very afraid to be closed in my crate and away from my humans but now I’m okay with it. I do appreciate when my foster siblings stay close by. When my mom and dad come home I’m always so really excited to see them and to play with my foster siblings again. There have even been some days where mom and dad have left me out of the crate when they had to leave the house and I have done really well with that. Mom says I’m really very sweet and have some of the cutest expressions. I love to be with my people. Dad watches TV in his recliner. If I ask politely, he will often invite me to join him. He gives good tummy rubs. Sometimes I don’t ask, I just leap. I can jump baby gates in a single bound. I sleep on a doggy bed by Mom’s bed. Lindsey just turned 3, so she plays with me, both inside and outside. Yes, we often get a little carried away, and get yelled at, but we have fun. The other two are older and grump at me a lot. Do I like cats? I live with one, and he’s cool. Sometimes he will actually play with me. He’s explained to me the claws come out if I get too rough. Do I like children? I don’t know, but I don’t see why I wouldn’t. They should be old enough I wouldn’t knock them over when I got excited. But, maybe they would run and play with me, and that would be a good thing. My ideal home would be with a family that could spend a lot of time with me, have a fenced in yard where I can run and have a fairly young dog for a playmate and company. If you would like an active, young, loving, affectionate companion then please fill out an adoption application so I can finally be in my forever home.
