Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi my name is Clark! I’m a basset mix. I was surrendered by my owner because my owner had to move into an assisted living facility and couldn't bring me along. :( When I came to Suncoast, they had to catch me up on all my vaccines and get me neutered which was NOT fun (but necessary). I am possibly around 8 years old but even the vet said I seemed much younger! I have a lot of energy and I love to play in the backyard and go on long walks to get my energy out. I used to be called Flash, probably because I'm so fast! I bolt out the door as soon as it opens so my foster family puts a gate in front of it now so I have to think before I run. I get along with both cats and dogs but I do have some toy aggression issues. I will steal a toy right out of another dog's mouth, if I can. I need a strong alpha presence in the house to give me some structure and rules. My foster parents are teaching me to sit, stay, and learn impulse control when it comes to eating. I like to jump up on the furniture to sleep and will get sassy with growls if I'm told to get down. But with enough coaxing, I am learning that I cannot always get what I want and I sleep in a dog bed at night when my foster parents tell me to. I will get in trouble if left unattended like knocking over the trash or counter surfing but that's only because my nose tells me to! When my foster parents are away, they put me in a room with the door closed and I'm just fine. I'm looking for a forever home with a more active lifestyle but trust me, I love to lay and relax too. Be patient with me and I'll love you forever!
