Penuche is a tiny little 4lb teacup cream/apricot male Poodle. He is 2 1/2 years old. He is gentle and sweet and loves to cuddle, his favorite thing to do is to be with his human all the time, and he loves to go in a backpack and go everywhere with you. We do not endorse handbag dogs but Penuche loves just going everywhere and came with his little backpack.
Penuche loves other dogs and can be found playing with toys and running around the garden. He is a well trained and behaved little boy with excellent manners that will be accepted wherever he is taken. Totally potty trained.
update 9/29/10
Penuche is ready to go home!!
He is off all his meds and is doing GREAT! He has made a total recovery and is like a puppy all over again. Running, playing, toy carrying and oh so snuggely. Penuche wants to be the apple of his owners eye and with them all the time. He is very attached to the foster parents and loves his foster Dad so much and this will transfer to his new owners. Penuche loves other same size dogs, but we would not place him in a home with cats, Penuche has no lingering long term issues and we just have him on an all natural multi vitamin and an 1/8 teaspoon of digestive enzyme which goes in his food for immune system support. Very inexpensive supplements. We think that Penuche contracted Meningitus from a cat litter box, therefore we cannot adopt him to a home that has either inside or outside cats.
This is one sweet sweet boy who has a special place in our hearts at Toy Poodle Rescue.
Requirements to adopt Penuche
No cats owned by the home
Penuche must be walked, no fenced in yards
Someone who is home as he connects totally with his human and wants to be right with you. He has a little bag that came with him so he can go everywhere with you.
No children, he is too small and really loves his adult owners.
Another dog not over 10lbs would be fine but not necessary.
Be prepared to be loved so much by this little fellow he is a true lap sitter
Penuche came into Toy Poodle Rescue several months ago, we received a call from his owner saying that Penuche was in terrible pain and could not move and although the owner had been to the vets and put on antibiotics he was not getting better and was crying in pain and the owner could not afford to do extensive care for him and begged us to help
. I picked up Penuche that day and knew immediately that he would need to see a neurologist and I knew exactly who to call, Dr Farabaugh at Angel Memorial
. After running and getting X-rays done with Dr Joel Woolfson to take with me, we headed off to see Dr Farabaugh and he guessed right away what might be Penuche's problem and he was right, Penuche has Meningitis. We had to get a spinal tap done and blood work and Penuche had to stay over night and I picked him up the next day.
Penuche is now pain free BUT he has to be on steroids for 6 months and gradually decrease the dose over that time.
Penuche went back for his first of several blood tests to check liver values on 2/3/10 and is doing great. We will continue his treatment and in 5 1/2 months Penuche will be ready to be adopted.
So far the treatment for Penuche is over $1,600 and we estimate total we will need to raise $2,000 to pay for his care. So we are here again asking you to help this little guy. Every penny counts and a dollar we have today was one we did not have yesterday so we will take anything you want to contribute to help us pay for his care.
We have such great supporters and we are so grateful for everything you do for our rescue and the Poodles that need help.
Please help Penuche
Poodles need to go to a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks at a cost of about $50, so please factor that into the costs associated with dog ownership.
