Here's what the humans have to say about me:
1. PLEASE NOTE: Breed mix info is the best guess of Bark Bark Wag and our vets. There is no way to know for certain what any dog's breed mix is without a DNA test; and most mixed-breed dogs may have 3, 4, 5 different breeds in their mix!
2. MUST READ --THE FIRST STEP: Go to www.barkbarkwag.org and click on "Let's Get Started!" to learn about our easy 3-step adoption process & apply to adopt! ANSWERS TO MOST QUESTIONS CAN BE FOUND HERE! We are all volunteers with limited time to respond to emails; if your question involves something NOT addressed at "Let's Get Started!", we will respond ASAP!

This brave little Shih Tzu guy has stolen our hearts away! Seeing the total joy he feels at almost everything in a regular day makes us so happy! He wholeheartedly loves mealtimes & squeaky toys; delights in taking short walks; loves giving kisses; and devours edible Nylabones with gusto! Lovable Nigel's most favorite thing is snuggling up to his people though; his personal mission is to fill any available warm lap with his fuzzy self. He was found stray, and had one eye removed at the shelter due to an old injury. He has adjusted well, but sometimes moves cautiously due to limited sight in his remaining eye (which requires eye drops daily, they're easy to give and he doesn't mind one bit!). He's initially nervous meeting new people due to his vision, but he relaxes once he knows he's safe. Nigel is house- & crate-trained (though he hates the crate); and is a respectful house guest! *NOTE: Our vet's best guess on Nigel's age is between 7-10 years old. Living as a stray is very hard, and the wear & tear on a dog's teeth and body can make them seem older... that is why there is such a wide age range guess. He's got lots of good energy and is very spunky!
HIS IDEAL FAMILY: Nigel would love an *adult* family where someone is home more often than not. (Even though Nigel is fine with the respectful, supervised children he has met, living with kids would be far too stressful for him). His new family would welcome Nigel on the couch or bed, and make a spot for him on their laps with a fluffy blanket! He's nervous meeting other animals due to his vision, so he'd prefer to be the only pet. Nigel loves cooked veggies added to his food; a family who will do this for him is a plus! He should be gently brushed several times a week, and it is mandatory that he goes to the groomer every 8 weeks or so to keep his skin and coat healthy! A yard with a physical fence is preferred but not mandatory; he lights up when it's time to go for a walk! Nigel is looking for a furever family who will love & care for him always... this spunky little guy will delight you with his sweet presence!
