Pongo is a sweet 13-lb., 2-year-old male possible rat terrier/chihuahua mix who loves attention and play. He loooves playing with toys. Pongo is so soft and is a great cuddler. He gets very excited for mealtime and loves treats. He is a fearful at first in new situations but once he’s comfortable he’s so silly and a lot of fun. Pongo is getting used to going on walks and understanding that everything in the outdoors isn't as scary as he thinks. With time and patience, he will love the outdoors and walks, almost as much as he loves toys. He does great in the backyard and will most definitely need a secure fenced-in yard. Pongo loves to play with other dogs, but is too rough and assertive for most dogs his size, so if the home has another dog, we prefer them to be young, medium-to-large size, and a match for his strong personality. Pongo is fine with cats. Pongo is good with kids and lives with a small child at his foster home. He is house trained as long as he isn't left too long. He is crate trained and sometimes likes to go lay in it on his own. Since he is small and fast, his new family must put measures in place to prevent him from running out an open door. Pongo needs an active family who can spend lots of time every day with this fun boy, but can also be patient with him until he feels safe, comfortable and "at home." He is not a dog who can be left at home all day while the family works, as he needs active play throughout the day.
