Here's what the humans have to say about me:
01-20-2010 Inky is a 2 - 3 year old mix of chihuahua/dachshund, perhaps a bit of something else mixed in. We call them "Mutts" & the loveliest of the pet world are "Mutts." And this little guy is truly a lovely pet! He is social and happy. Read more about him.....maybe YOUR home needs a little bit of joy!
Inky is black, a tiny bit of white on his chest & paws. He weighs 16 lbs.
Inky was surrendered to the POLICE for destruction. Family was too busy to care for the little guy. The POLICE officer took him to the vet. The vet staff felt this little guy needed a chance, thus called us. It's hard to say "NO!" to the foster mom's vet.
01-21 Inky got the "Works" by Doc. He is coming out from under anesthesia, neutered, fully vaccinated, dental not needed, on preventatives, will be microchipped by AVID.

We have placed this fur-kid in foster care with Judy V for recuperation time.
The foster updates on his/her likes & dislikes will help you know if this fur-kid is suitable for your home.
The foster has a very important job, evaluating, loving, letting go to make room for another fur-kid at risk.
01-21 Inky is coming along nicely, seems to be a very good fur-boy!
01-23 Inky is crate trained, slept quietly & dry all night long. He is good on the leash. He appears to be housebroken yet we need to observe a few more days.
He growled a bit when the other fur-kids got in his face to greet him, reprimanded, no further problem.
01-25 Inky has arrived at the Sanctuary. He curled up on a pillow inside an open crate, dozed off to sleep after his long ride.
He rode very quietly in the vehicle, seems to have been dearly loved in the past. His coat is in excellent condition, hair nor skin dry or flaky.
01-26 Inky slept quiet & dry all night in a crate on a pillow. Out first thing to do his duty he appears to be a good little fur-kid. He is a very handsome young fur-kid, very good behavior thus far. He is getting along with the other fur-kids. He hopped upon a Kuranda bed, went back to sleep, let Mozart have his open crate & soft pillow.
01-27 Inky continues to do well. His appetite is good, he is exploring a bit outside, then back inside, explores a bit about the house. He is coming along slowly, no longer find him in the open crate on the pillow. He's checking for e-mails, sits beside the computer desk.
01-29 Inky is now part of the pack. He is more confident, dances for food, plays with some of the younger seniors. Someone loved him dearly until they didn't.
02-02 Inky continues to do very well, playing with the younger seniors, also with Mozart, the pup of the pack. He dashes out the door, dashes back in, house manners have been very good.

The adoption fee ranges from $175 to $325.
The fee is based upon veterinary care, age & size of dog.
The higher adoption fee on the younger small dogs helps care for the older dogs that take longer to find fur-ever homes.
Senior citizens and disabled receive a discount.
We also offer a discount to those in uniform keeping us safe.
Land of the free because of the brave.
Our adoption process begins with the e-mail or phone call to us. Please be prepared to furnish your complete name, address, telephone number, your veterinarian contact information & at least two personal references. We will then call you to ask a series of questions.
