My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Star is a very special, friendly, smart, and affectionate young male homing pigeon. Star has SO much personality for such a little guy..... he is very confident and wants what he wants (which usually is NOT being in a cage and lots of safflower seeds). He was rescued as a baby and is extremely friendly with humans, and isn't scared of new people. He is wonderful wonderful company-- he will sit on your shoulder, let you hold him and pet/kiss him (see video!), and will sit on the couch with you at night for hours and let you preen his feathers. He also enjoys flying around the house, and finding creative perching spots and other hideaways, such as on top of cabinets and bookshelves and on the shower curtain rod. He greets his foster mom at the door every day when she gets home, and often follows her from room to room. He is obsessed with reflective surfaces, and will spend an hour admiring his own reflection. He also loves cat toys and little balls, and will push them around and even throw them and then chase them. Star knows his name and the command "shoulder," and will almost always come when he is called. While he clearly loves people, pigeons are very social, so he should go to a home with another, preferably female, pigeon that he can bond with so he isn't ever left alone.

Please remember, pigeons can live approximately 20 years and keeping birds as indoor pets is a lot more work than a dog or cat.
