Carolina Loves:
- Zoomies at bedtime
- Playtime! Toys, and collecting your shoes to nest with them in her bed
- Sitting near you and touching you (not on your lap though)
- Car rides (fear of getting in and out will need to be worked on)
Carolina's manners/personality:
- Intelligent and trainable
- Walks on a leash but needs additional training to become 100%
- Possessive of her treats and owner
- Needs crate training
- Not a barker - she's quiet except when the neighbor dog barks or someone is at your door
- Needs training for basic commands: sit, stay, come, etc.
- Housebroken about 95% of the time, she does use a puppy pad when you aren't at home.
Carolina will likely be a bit shy at first in her new home. She is a 2 yr old who will need patience and understanding because she needs further training. She is fit for an active home where she will be engaged in physical and mental challenges. She is playful and will provide you so many laughs. Her foster mom says she is a really sweet and affectionate pup and will want to do everything with you, be by your side and give you lot of kisses! In a sense, she will be your shadow and is very trainable.
Her love of toys means she is playful and will need to have an owner dedicated to play with her as well as train her. Carolina also loves to haul your shoes around but won't ever damage them. This girl would do great in a townhome or apartment if she had an owner that did two longer walks a day and maybe some hikes? She will need walks and will match your activity level. If your home had a backyard, we will require a fence.
It likely comes as no surprise that Carolina came to us as a stray quite a long time ago. She was never claimed and quite frankly has been working on house manners and learning to build trust. Pathways is confident Carolina is ready for her forever family, one that is: active, patient, has time to train a dog, understanding and flexible and has decided to dedicate time to a dog who might need some extra time to adjust and build trust and work on training several times a day.
Note: It is unclear to us how Carolina will do with children in general because she has not yet had an opportunity to be around them. We do know Carolina is possessive with her foster mom and her toys. Please take this into consideration as you consider the fit in your home. Any children should be at least 12 years or older and of a kind, gentle nature.
