My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Absolutely No Phone Calls. If interested in adopting, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save an application. Email it back to us at larrydonnacarp@aol.com to be approved. We will review it and return calls. No young children. 12 and older is okay.

Meet Boomer a very sweet 5 1/2-year-old, 36-pound Boykin Spaniel. He will be 6 years old later this year. He belonged to a breeder who said he bit a 2-year-old child in the face, and she didn't want to keep him anymore.

He is a healthy boy, likes attention and is a nice dog. He came to us jumpy, skittish and difficult to feed. He is now eating well and wagging his tail a lot, but he is a sensitive dog and needs time to feel comfortable. A calm home and someone to work with him is a huge plus. A fenced yard is an absolute must. He loves balls and likes to play fetch. No young children for this dog, but he can be with 12 and older children. He is not a good fit for an elderly owner as he is tough on a leash. This said, a strong leash and a secure harness will be best. He might be okay with just one other dog social pal who won't dominate him or get in his face. Or he could be the only dog in your home with you giving him lots of love and attention. He deserves a life with a wonderful owner who will help him blossom as he gets older. Quality time with you will make him happy with your patience and a willingness to help him thrive being key factors.

His Adoption fee is $400
