Hi! My name is Rita and I'm a fabulous young girl dog! One of the volunteers here at Desert Haven is young-at-heart and sort of a goofy guy and guess what?! We get along famously because I am a goofy girl with a penchant for play.
He throws toys for me, plays hide-and-seek with me, and romps around the yard with me. This is my kind of human! You see, I like to engage with my person in fun games, learning, and toy play. I also like to snuggle up and have petsies too. But make no mistake, I am an active young girl so I will do best with a family that is active and excited about shaping and molding me into their Best Girl.
I am also soft as the day is long. My coat has this luxurious feel to it. It's thick and soft and you will probably want me to lay your head right down on my soft body and use me as your pillow! I will let you because I really love people and being close with you will be my favorite thing.
I have met and roomed with a variety of dogs and a variety of people. I am very friendly but don't have a good sense of personal space yet so I will get right in there and sniff and check another dog out right away and this can put some dogs off. I will need some help with being less puppyish and more maturish.
As far as people go, I meet people in a friendly and happy way. I'll be in good hands with a family who has some experience with dog training so we can work on channeling my exuberant happy energy properly. I just love love love interacting with people and being taught. Praise is the key to my heart and my learning. I do like treats but knowing I made you happy is what really makes me tick.
