Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET CHEWY! Chewy is 6 years old and weighs 12.5 pounds. Chewy is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL.
UPDATED BIO 3/16/22: Chewy is an adorable 6-year old yorkie. Chewy is a sweet young dog full of life and fun. He weighs a too-heavy 13.2 pounds and is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Sadly, Chewy was surrendered by his former owners, who were no longer able to care for him in the way he deserves. Luckily, he was able to join UYRs foster care program!
Chewy has been in his foster home for about a week now and has adapted well. We are learning more each day about Chewys personality. He definitely loves people, and also enjoys some alone time napping in his crate. Chewy walks OK on a leash but does not seem to like long walks right now (which may be because he is slightly overweight). Foster mom has him on a diet and is promoting walking so that he can get down to a healthier weight. But otherwise, Chewy is a happy, healthy dog! He loves to play tug-o-war and loves his squeaky toys. He is generally very quiet, though he is not shy about telling you if someone comes to the door. And BONUS, Chewy is mostly housebroken! Foster mom has been continuing to reinforce his potty manners.
Chewys former owner reports that he is generally friendly towards other smaller dogs, but is a bit fearful of bigger dogs. He has had positive interactions with other small dogs at the dog park. We believe he would be happy in a home with other small dogs. We do not yet know how he behaves around cats. He seems to really enjoy children. He is generally quiet, and so we think he would do well in a house or a condo.
Chewy has received his well-doggie visit and vaccinations, and is now ready for adoption! Chewys ideal furever home would be:
- with at least one stay-at-home person or a small companion animal to keep him company
- in a home where he is allowed on the furniture and the bed
- with a family who will continue his training and encourage his physical fitness
- no children under the age of 12
If you feel you would be a great match for Chewy, please fill out an application for this sweet, purfect angel!
