My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spot is about 7-8 years old with a whole LOT of dog to love! He is a giant teddy bear, brimming over with adorableness and drool. Yep! You cannot expect to have a spotless home with him around but, he is so worth it! He is playful as ever but is quite clumsy. Older kids would absolutely love hanging out with him! He has been a Ranch dog for a while and can strut his stuff around the property every now and then but, due to him being picky about dog friends, cannot enjoy roaming free unconditionally. We will be heartbroken to see him go but we would love it more to see him have his very own family, his very own home, where he will be free to be himself. Always and unconditionally.

We don’t know what breed he is but our best guess would be a Mastiff and some American Staffordshire Terrier. What we do know is that he deserves nothing but the best, as do all our dogs! Older dogs are SO easy! While Spot may need a little help with potty training as he has never lived in a home, he will learn faster than a puppy. Older dogs are pretty much ready to go! You can start going on walks from day one. You can socialize from day one and don’t have to wait for the full set of puppy vaccines. They are already spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccines. They don’t keep nagging you for attention. You already know what they like or don’t like. They are visibly appreciative of all the good stuff you do for them. And the best part? You don’t have to keep money aside for new shoes (you know, to replace the ones the puppy chewed up?). Well, hopefully not! We will keep our fingers crossed on that one! Long story short, there’s nothing more fulfilling than giving an old dog a home.

Spot has a piece of our hearts. We love this boy so very much! If you are even considering adopting him, we love you already!

More about this rescue

It all began late one evening when Meredith, founder of LCAR, watched John, co-founder, pull into the driveway with an unexpected passenger. There she sat in the front seat, as tall as she could possibly get, so she could look out over the dashboard. It was love at first sight. That’s when Roxy went home with Meredith and John, becoming the first of many, many rescued dogs, cats, and horses that were yet to find their way home to the ranch.

Lucky arrived soon after. She and Roxy were thick as thieves from day one and roamed the ranch as if they owned the place. Well, they did actually own the place!

Several dogs have shown up on the property since then, appearing as if out of thin air. They must have heard of the ranch being the place to be if you had no place left to go.
