PLEASE scroll down and read the ENTIRE BIO. It is lengthy but has ALL INFO we know. Emailing and asking for more info is only going to hold up your process and risk your chances of the dog you want being gone. BENJI is in SALEM, Ohio. HE is fully vetted including neuter/rabies/Bordetella/parvo distemper vaccine/worming/heartworm lyme test/heartworm-flea prevent while at the shelter. We do not ship dogs, we do not transport dogs, we do not hold dogs. You must be ready to adopt within 72 hours upon approval.
FULLY VETTED ADOPTION FEE is: $150
** PLEASE NOTE: Since we are a shelter, the majority of our dogs have not had the luxury of a foster home. As a result, what we post in reference to their behavior, temperament, likes/dislikes etc is only what we witness here and not in a home atmosphere.
HI!! You best read quickly and fill out that application because we alllll know just how much you folks like our breed!! Yup, that's right I am a purebred shih tzu! One of those non/low shedding types with a lifespan that goes well up into the teens. We are quite mobile and of course are extremely playful and loving. Now, with all that good you must also know that we can be a bit high maintenance.....we require a complete grooming every 6-8 weeks or so ($$), since our mouths are so tiny, and our teeth are so close together we will require a dental ($$$) several times during our lifetime. So, what I am trying to say is that although we are (in my opinion) quite the desired breed we also come with a financial responsibility. OK enough about the breed in general, now let's talk about me!!! Prior to being brought into the shelter I was living with 2 other dogs and 5 cats along with a Mom who loved us with her whole heart. Sadly, she was not capable of caring for us any longer and her friends helped in getting us into the shelter. Well let me tell you, it's been quite the experience for me!! You see, even though I was living with all my other animal siblings I was still not very socialized with other dogs or people. So, this has been a real eye opener for me!! But I have found that new people, animals and experiences can be a blast!!! I only require about 5 minutes or so to check things out and I am good to go. OH, and I LOVE toys!!! Car rides?? I am getting used to them as I had never been in a car before now and I find it amazing that in a matter of minutes I can get into that machine and when I get out, I am transported to a different location!!! Kids?? Again, if given some time to acclimate to their activity level I am good. But really young ones may be a challenge for me so let's keep the kid age to 8 yrs and above. I walk well on a leash and my potty habits are pretty good. But keep in mind that I will have accidents in a new home until you and I work out the logistics together. We are unsure if I am able to be crated so you would have to check that out. Well, I believe that covers just about everything regarding my breed as well as myself!!!
