Here's what the humans have to say about me:
River here! I’m still on the hunt for my perfect forever home. I am 5 years young with my birthday coming up soon in August. I’m 51 lbs spayed and up to date on all vaccines and preventives.
River has come a really long way in the 5 months I’ve had her - she can be crated but she doesn’t need a crate - she won’t get into any trouble out alone unless you leave food out on the counters unattended. She has bonded quickly to me -
her foster mom - and didn’t take too long to come around to foster dad either. She has even gained enough confidence to meet adults and teenagers on outings around town very nicely and politely. She can be quite loud about meeting people in her home but warms up if they are patient with her. She can still get scared by quick movements, crouching down by her and she doesn’t like to be picked up. Young kids will likely overwhelm her and cause anxiety but older kids who are patient will find her to be a fun playmate.
River is making huge progress listening in the house and in the yard but still struggles to listen out on walks. She likes to have one speed - fast! Plus squirrels and cars can be very tempting to lunge at as well. She’s making slow and steady progress. She’s gotten really good with place and sit with a release word and I believe if her adopters work hard on basic obedience and impulse control in and around the house it will really help on walks. She can be quite stubborn and needs someone with experience being a strong leader.
River can NOT live with cats, small mammals or small dogs
River does not meet dogs well upfront - she will never be a dog park dog - but with proper introductions and patience she coexists respectfully with my 2 dogs but does need to be fed separately. She’s not into really playing with dogs at all and can be jealous about attention. She will excel best as an only dog.
River LOVES her fenced in yard and will keep it free of any intruders of all shapes and sizes for you - a nice secure yard (6 foot +) helps her expend her energy and gives safe place for training
River LOVES squeaky toys and tug o war - she has played fetch once or twice but really she’s all about the toys. She loves to get all loud and growly and play tug with her person for as long as their arms can take it. She also loves belly rubs and hanging out on the couch with you.
