Meet Tara and Stella - Loving Bengal Cats for Adoption!
Contact: e-mail dcmcats@yahoo.com for info on adopting Stella & Tara
Tara and Stella are beautiful and loving full Bengal cats. They are very sweet and friendly and enjoy interacting with people. Stella has lovely expressive eyes and a lighter coat, Tara’s coat is darker and her coat patterns are more pronounced, but they both have beautiful markings. Stella’s personality is a little more subdued than Tara’s, but they both are sensitive and extremely smart.
It would be best if Stella and Tara could stay together as they like to hang out and cuddle with each other and it would be less stressful for them in a new home if they have each other. Or else, they can be adopted separately as the only pet in the new household. Stella could be tried out with a small friendly dog – she should be kept separately at first with supervised for short periods of introductions (as should always be done when introducing a new pet to the household).
They love nature and enjoy having access to an enclosed catio or safe cat-proofed fenced secure enclosed yard, if that is possible. They are active and playful, and super intelligent. They require a lot of attention and interaction, so someone who adopts them should be able to spend time entertaining them and provide them with a lot of toys and scratching posts, and also play games with them with string and chase toys. Plus interesting things for them to do such as cat puzzle toys. Most importantly, someone who will not leave them alone a lot or ignored.
Bengals do require special handling. They have some “wildcat” genetics several generations back with a lineage of a domestic cat crossed with a Asian Leopard cat. Bengals will seek out your attention, and love to have games and activity with you. They will chat and follow you around. If there are other members in the family, they may choose one person to bond with. They have kind of a dog-like personality and are very loyal and intuitive. They are not couch potatoes or lap cats, but will come for pets and attention.
Stella has been fixed and Tara has an appt. for fixing, so she will be spayed before going to a new home. They also have been tested and are up to date on vaccines. Tara and Stella are about 6 years old and are medium sized cats; weighting about 8-9 lbs. There have been several changes in their household including a family member who moved in with 3 Rottweilers which they are afraid of, so the household was no longer an appropriate place for them and they have been staying temporarily at another location.
We are looking preferably for someone who has experience with Bengals or other exotic cats; however we are open to someone who is willing to learn about them and their temperament. If they are stressed, or in fear or pain, or if reprimanded or banished to a closed room, they can become anxious and their “wildcat” side can click in temporarily.
Stella and Tara love kind humans and enjoy a calm household with not a lot of changes to routines. Also no other animals should be in another part of the house or always out in the yard, as that will stress them. They will both need a little time to settle into a new routine, so looking for someone who can be patient and gentle with them so their loving personalities come have time to come out! They are well worth it and are very special and unique cats!
Please reply with info of any experience with other exotic cats or other pets you have had if you are willing to learn about Bengals; where you are located, and a little bit about your household and daily routines. There will also be an application to complete. Please do not respond with questions about their adoption fees, that will be negotiated once we find the perfect home(s). Our goal is to place them in loving home(s) where they can feel secure and be entertained, so they can be happy and loved for the rest of their kitty lives!
