Hey Everyone....I am soo excited it's my turn to find my forever home. Mom says I am one special little girl & I deserve my very own special forever home (which all hounds in rescue do)! I was brought into rescue when my breeder surrendered myself and all 8 of my mixed breed puppies to a shelter in MO. She stated she could no longer feed us and man oh man did my body ever know it. I did what every good mom does and made sure my babies were well fed and taken care of. But I needed just a little bit more me time and the shelter contacted rescue to see if they could help me. As you can see from the last picture above my body condition is what my Mom's call poor & I weighed a whopping 18 lbs :0( They said I needed some much needed groceries & I have gotten nothing but these most marvelous meals regularly ever since. Mom says I need to tell everyone that since I wasn't properly taken care of when I was a puppy I am forever the size of a 8-10 month old, even though I am a little over a year now. I will never grow over 40 lbs and am done growing so they get to call me a "pocket Basset", Mom just calls me "Peanut"! Despite my rough start my personality has never diminished and I shine brighter than a star each and every day! I have got to meet so many wonderful Mom's and Dad's along my way to my current temporary home and they all had hound brothers and sisters for me to play with. I absolutely LOVE everyone I meet and rescue is kindly requesting I go to a home with at least one other dog & one that can keep up with my energy level...I am after all just a young girl myself and man oh man can I do the "Basset 500" like no other. In the 2 temporary homes I have been in I have learned to respect the older more established cats of the house, but one of these homes had 2 kittens and I guess I didn't see eye to eye with them & really didn't want to share my space with them....so if you have older cats I don't mind, just no little whipper snappers please! I absolutely ADORE the little human kids too, more lovin just in my size. I have one nemesis, the food, because I was soo hungry before I tend to get a little food happy and can snatch food off counters, tables, and right out of little ones hands like no other, hey do you blame me? I never mean to hurt to anyone I just can't help myself. I am one smart little cookie though and have learned how to sit, stay, etc...and that house training business, easy peasy! I am UTD on all vaccinations, HW tested negative and on monthly preventative, de-wormed and altered. Please remember Every animal for adoption through an Hounds Haven is fully vetted for their age and only needs routine preventive care. Dogs older then 6 months of age are heartworm tested! All dogs are kept on heartworm preventative. Every hound is vaccinated (age appropriate), and de-wormed, in addition to being spayed/neutered.
We are asking for interested parties to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire prior to us lining up an appointment for them to see the hound(s) at the hound(s)' home.
