Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looking for a dark, handsome, gentleman that will be the topic of conversation and make you the envy of everyone he meets? Look no further, you’ve found him. Schultz is a very unique dachshund, unique because he’s 100% all black, longhaired and he’s a standard (about 20lbs). He was pulled from a kill shelter where he was a shelter favorite so they contacted rescue when his time was up. The workers believe he was part of a back yard breeding operation that was trying to produce “designer all black” dachshunds. He is thought to be three years old. Enough about his looks, from the pictures, you can see he is a stunner. Personality wise, an absolute dream! He is a go with the flow type of boy and a very stable temperament. Nothing seems to rattle this boy, he takes everything in stride. He is fantastic with other dogs (do not know about cats, but doesn’t seem to have much of a prey drive) big and small. If another dog wants to play, he’ll play, if they want to cuddle and relax on the couch, Schultz is right there too. He matches the energy of the household. A perfect dog for a family or actually, just about anyone because he’s so sweet. Smart as can be. I’ve been working on clicker training him and he now knows, “Stay”, “Sit”, “Lay down”, in all honesty, the possibilities with him are endless because he LOVES to learn. He would be an excellent candidate for obedience or a therapy dog because he catches on quickly and loves to please, oh and loves being rewarded with treats too. He is not an “in your face” kind of dog. Schultz wants to be with you but is content to lie by your feet or in a dog bed on the floor after getting a cuddle session. But if you call him to your lap, he’s happy to oblige and likes to snuggle with his head on your chest. He’s not a big barker either, but when he does bark he sounds like a Doberman which is odd to hear coming out of his mouth. He is doing well with housetraining, it is believed he was an outside dog previously. He’s had 2 marking incidents since arriving in my care and the first was within the first 5 minutes of coming in the door. I think that will disappear now that he’s been neutered. If you pay attention to him, you will not have a problem. He’s learned to ring the bells by my back door when he needs to go outside. He is crate trained and is quiet as can be at night. He doesn’t willingly go into his crate but instead goes limp and allows you to pick him up and put him in his crate. He will bark and whine the moment he sees you in the morning until you “spring him”. This boy is a rare gem! His adoption fee is $250 which is an absolute bargain for the love you will get in return. Schultz is in a foster home in Mechanicsburg, PA. For more information about him, please email marcey789@yahoo.com.
