Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet ONYX! Have you seen my photos?! Then you know I’m a super good-looking boy, right? Playing and running are some of my favorite things. If I had my way, I’d always have another dog pal to run and play with! I’m a pretty good listener when I’m being trained but I can get a little distracted since I’m still kind of a puppy (I’m only 6 months old). If a social butterfly is what you want, then I’m your boy. I admit it: I just love attention. So feel free to give me all the love, kisses, and hugs you’ve got! Some great ladies are training me—and they’re helping me to learn patience. I already know how to SIT, DOWN, TOUCH, and SIT on APPROACH! And they’re teaching me how to be in a crate. I’m down with that. I was a little worried about going up and down stairs, but they’re teaching me that, too…with treats! I love tennis balls, my stuffed animal toy, and CHEW TOYS!...Yes, yes, yes, I love those! And even though I’m still learning and still have some high puppy energy, I am sweet and loving and gentle with my people. I’ve heard that I will make a super awesome pet for someone. All I know is, I want to find my very own home. At about 28-30 lbs., I’m a 6-month-old Black Lab mix, who is just about the perfect dog because I’m a SECOND CHANCES dog! Bonaparte’s Retreat partners with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and its SECOND CHANCES Offender Dog-Training program. We provide rescued shelter dogs and the Sheriff’s Office selects female inmate animal handlers/trainers to live with, love, train, socialize, groom, and prepare the dogs for forever homes. A SECOND CHANCES dog will already have learned many commands and how to live in a home. These really are just about the perfect dogs!November 4, 2024, 1:26 pm
