Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Karelian Bear Dog mix | 21 months | Male | 65 lbs | Owner Surrender
*We cannot guarantee breed nor age.
Temperament: Lovable, goofy, inquisitive!
Activity level: Very active! High energy! Enjoys 2 hours of exercise a day.
Vetting: Core vaccines (DH2PP, Rabies), neutered (April 7, 2022), microchipped, dewormed, fecal (negative), on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
Housebroken: Yes!
Good with Dogs: Yes!
Good with Cats: Yes!
Good with Children: Not tested.
Any noted prey drive: Interested in squirrels, raccoons and birds but is doing really well in his training to ignore them.
How do they respond to the outdoors: LOVES being outside! The perfect outdoor adventure buddy or city walking companion.
Crate Trained: Yes!
Any resource guarding: None observed.
Response to commands: Good! If he hasn’t had a lot of physical and mental stimulation his excitement can sometimes get the best of him. Tricks he’s learned so far: “sit”, “lay down”, “jump”, “hug”, “shake a paw/other paw”, “roll over”, “spin” and “stay”. Working on perfecting “heel”.
Are they vocal: Not really. Will sometimes vocalize during play with another dog or if he’s being separated from other dogs or something really interesting. Has not found his “voice”.
Leash Etiquette: Great! Still needs a bit of work but he is very close to being completely loose-leash trained.
Transportation: Great in both the car and on the streetcar! Does well with treats or a toy to keep him busy on longer trips.

Be prepared to lay your eyes on the CUTEST pup around! This boy is just as adorable and sweet as his namesake - the panda bear! Panda is loveable, goofy and energetic, with lots of affection to give to everyone he meets. Panda is an active boy and enjoys lots of exercise and socialization to help keep him fulfilled. He absolutely loves meeting new people and dogs, and excels when he is able to play with his friends. This outgoing boy is even unbothered by the hustle and bustle of the city, rather he is more concerned with meeting everyone he passes.
This handsome boy adores other dogs! He loves to play and can sometimes tire out his playmates before he’s tired himself. He plays very well with other dogs that can match his energy level - even smaller dogs play well with Panda! He would love to share his forever home with a doggie sibling that doesn’t mind an energetic companion and is ready for playtime. He would also do well as the only dog in the home, as long as he is able to regularly socialize since Panda loves nothing more than making new friends.
Panda has shown to be good with dog savvy cats but will need slow introductions and close supervision when they are around each other to start their relationship off on the right foot. He currently has not been formally tested around children but is interested when he sees them and would likely be good with them eventually, once he matures. Panda is very social with people but would need direct supervision around kids until he is less excitable and has moved past his mouthy/nippy development phase.
Panda would thrive in an active home with adopters who love the outdoors as much as him, that will take him along on all sorts of fun adventures, even in the winter. Panda has recently found a love for biking with his foster dad and is thrilled when he gets the chance to go for a jog! Being a spitz breed, he absolutely THRIVES in the snow and cold. Panda loves cooler temperatures and if things were his way, he’d want the AC to be on all year-round. Typical of a spitz type breed, he can be out and about for long periods of time in the winter but easily gets hot in the peak of summer.
He gets around 2 hours of exercise, with his foster taking him out for roughly four 30 minute walks per day. He loves running, a good game of fetch and playing with other dogs, and is always down for some outdoor time unless he is exhausted - but since he is still young this can be hard to do! However, if you do manage to tire him out, Panda proves to be a very good cuddler. Panda would benefit from a large backyard to regularly play fetch in with his forever family or wrestle with a doggie sibling. Panda’s adopters would ideally have an understanding of large breeds, and previous breed experience would be even better!
Panda is an extremely intelligent dog. He responds well to positive-reinforcement training and would love to continue building his skills with his forever family. Since he is still a young pup, Panda will need continued training and guidance to help him become the goodest boy! He has made great progress in his foster home but still has lots to learn. He has improved immensely on his leash skills and is getting oh so close to being a loose-leash walking pro! His foster dad is even able to enjoy a mug of coffee while walking Panda. This smart cookie is working on controlling his interest in squirrels but is making great progress. As with any dog, those walking him must be mindful of him wanting to eat things on the ground. He is a very curious pup and there isn’t anything he won’t try putting in his mouth. Panda’s adopters should be prepared to puppy-proof their home, as he does like to nibble on some items. Although 90% of things will be fine, he does love to munch on shoes.
