Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Elijah, a sweet 7 year old, 5 pound Yorkie boy who is being fostered in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. Only Texas residents will be considered.
This little 7-8 yr old, 5lb baby was in such horrible shape at DAS (Dallas Animal Service). Elijah came into the shelter as a stray so we really have no story to his life. We do know he was found in a deplorable shape and he had a lot of medical issues going on. What broke my heart is that little guy was noticed to never stop coughing in his kennel from the 8th through the 10th! They brought in a vet who took x-rays and gave him an injection of buprenorphine and he stopped coughing within minutes. He was available for rescue on the11th *next day) so I was there to see if we could give this little man the life he was neglected to have. I saw this little face full of matted fur over his eyes and asked for scissors to cut this black tar like mass away from his eyes...his eyes, although white of cataracts, looked back at me...that's all it took. I scooped him up and here we are. I whispered to this little bit of nothing that he is in for his best life ever.
On my way home I called and set his vet appointment on Monday. I was able to sit and read Elijah's kennel chart that was updated on Saturday as having mature cataracts, Cardiac disease, Stifles, Blind, Constipated, IVDD and spondylosis to name a few of his issues. I'm saying, watch this,
He was bathed and I did just a slight trim but he is already showing himself to be just a love. He also may be potty trained as he has pottied every time outside. He has very good visual perception and I think he might even be a little visual as he can navigate very well. He knows when I'm fixing food, and he eats like a champ. Elijah is also loving all the dog beds and is loving having the attention and love he has missed. I can;t wait to see this little man blossom!
This previous baby will be up for adoption after we complete his vetting. I know, you all know, that it's because of you that we are able to give these babies the care they need. Please know we thank you all for loving our babies and helping us give them the care they so desperately need and deserve, Applications and donations can be made at www.uyr.us. Bless you all.
