Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bandit is a yorkie mix fellow. He is 7 years old and weighs 9.8 pounds. Bandit is being fostered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
UPDATED BIO 02/19/2022: Bandit was sadly surrendered by his owners when their life circumstances changed. His owners' work hours were increased and the new residence didn't allow dogs. UYR happily brought Bandit into our Foster Home Program.
Bandit has been in his new foster home for 10 days and has quickly settled into the household routine. He has proven to be a sweet, affectionate (if somewhat timid at first) boy who gets along well with his new foster brother who is a rescued 5 year old yorkie.
Bandit loves to give kisses and have his belly rubbed. The day after arriving, he got his first big boy haircut and the groomer said he did fantastic. His cut is a little short, but it will grow out beautifully in two to three weeks. Bandit is very active in the mornings during his yard time. He is very inquisitive and playful. Most of the time he acts much younger than his 7 years. During the late morning and afternoon, he alternates between playing with his foster brother and napping on his bed in his foster dad's office while he works.
Bandit does well on his leash, but still needs some work with leash-training to help him learn not to pull so hard. Sadly, he was not previously leash-trained in his former home. His house-training is ongoing and slowly improving. He seems eager to please which is helpful, but he continues to wear a belly band while in the house. It is more often dry than not when he is taken outside. House training will have to be ongoing in his new forever home but his foster dad is confident he will soon get it.
His foster parents feel that he would do well in most home situations. Bandit seems to get along with other dogs really well. He does love the fenced yard, but foster dad thinks that if he were adopted into a home without a fenced yard, and who walked him consistently that would be okay, too. He's not a huge marker. He is also not a big barker, and only barks when he sees someone outside through the window or when someone knocks on the door.
Bandit is going to make a wonderful companion for a lucky adoptive family soon and while he will be missed by his foster dads, they will be sure to find him a loving forever family who will give him back all the affection he loves to give.
