Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Beautiful Lucy has been stuck in foster care for a WHOLE YEAR!
Please help us find her forever family! Her Adoption Fee has already been paid for by a generous donor!
Name: Lucy
Breed: Shepherd mix
Approximate Age: 6 years
Approximate Weight: 70lbs
Sex: Female
Adoption Requirements: No other pets in the home; Experienced dog owner and fenced-yard highly preferred.
Lucy is a gorgeous 5 year old Shepherd mix. True to her breed, she is extremely intelligent and really enjoys learning new things. She already has a handful of tricks and commands under her belt, all of which she loves to show off. She's mastered sit, down, shake, hi/wave, touch, circle, back up, forward, with me, break, crate, bed, focus, kiss, leave it, take it, up, off; and she's currently learning to touch "hungry" and "snuggles" buttons when she wants food or physical attention. She is super sweet and absolutely LOVES humans - regardless of their age or size. She lives for those snuggles and belly rubs, and she is very loyal.
We originally rescued Lucy from an Arkansas kill shelter back in April of 2020, yet here she is in 2022 - still looking for a home to call her own. Unfortunately, Lucy was adopted from and subsequently returned to us on two different occasions between April 2020 and February 2021, solely due to not getting along with other dogs. We can't understand why anyone would surrender her, and or why no one wants to give her another chance, because she is otherwise an AMAZING dog!
While Lucy may not like other dogs, she will be the perfect addition to any family who is okay with being a one-dog household. All that family needs to do is stay committed to keeping Lucy properly leashed when out and about and kept safe from other dogs in general. In this sense, Lucy would thrive with an experienced pet owner who knows how to maintain boundaries. Having said all that, Lucy is muzzle trained and will even stick her nose into her muzzle when asked! She would love a fenced yard to ensure strange dogs don't enter her space., We certainly hope that Lucy's inability to socialize with other pets can be overlooked, because she truly is a wonderful companion and family dog.
If you're looking for a new member of your family who's got beauty, brains, and a big heart, look no further! Lucy is your girl!
