My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cedar is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, male, DOB: 9/30/21
Extremely friendly and social, Cedar is an outgoing character who likes to initiate and join in ruff-n-tumble playtime with other cats/kittens, and he is brashly curious in his adventure-seeking being completely unaware of any dangers in the world around him. Persistent inquisitiveness along with an uninhibited interest in checking-out all things in his environment, this sleek and handsome feline has a hold-nothing-back, all-in approach to life.
A highly social and confidently outgoing young cat, as well as being good-natured and entirely easy-to-please, this endearing little charmer won’t pass up many opportunities for loving attention and affection from those he knows and loves. Readily welcoming any pets offered as well as some interactive playtime, Cedar's purr motor gets pretty revved-up when he’s getting pets or being spoken to.
Cedar came to Monroe SPCA as an orphan needing critical care - barely able to eat on his own, found outdoors with a nasty upper respiratory infection. Both of his eyes were badly infected as well and almost completely sealed shut. He spent his first months with Monroe SPCA in medical foster being treated for his URI and eye infections, along with being treated for Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, and fleas.
Now a happy, healthy feline, Cedar does have minor scarring on his eyes from the infections before treatment started. That however does not inhibit his sight, and he's looking for his forever home with a family who can give him the time and attention a young cat needs. Although Cedar can be adopted individually, we recommend a paired-adoption with another of our other young cats with compatible personalities and temperament.
Cedar is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.
Cedar currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.
All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
