Here's what the humans have to say about me:
8/16/05 - Chaz came to RRUFF as an owner surrender. In his previous life, he spent most of his time tied outside. His foster parents were pleasantly surprised to find he was housetrained and actually well behaved. He is starved for attention and very eager to please. No need for food treats with him all he wants is your praise. He absolutely lights up when he hears "good boy".
Chaz loves going for walks. He can pull some at first when on leash, but after correcting he'll walk wonderfully at your side. He is very handler focused, again he is starved for attention and eager to please, so his continued training is expected to be relatively easy. He is very gentle when taking treats from hand and has no food aggression issues of any kind. So far, his well-known obedience commands consist of: sit, down and come. Currently, his foster parents are working to teach him "stay" as well as the bring and release concept of fetch. He plays with all his toys with such enthusiasm that its hard to say which one is his favorite, but any kind of ball is high on his list.
Chaz is active and easily excitable, but he will settle when needed. At times, he is a puppy in an adult body and although he tries to be careful he can be clumsy, so we recommend he be placed in a family with children over 12.
Chaz is very social with people when outside, but has shown to be protective when first greeting people in the home. He is friendly with other dogs, but in the past had not been properly socialized with them. He is learning that not all dogs like to be jumped on at first meeting. In time he will learn how to greet new doggie friends and not make a nuisance of himself.
Chaz has lots of potential and just needs a family who is willing to give him the time and love he deserves. There is no doubt his new family will get back tenfold what they give.
Chaz is currently being fostered in Southern, NH
