My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Halsey: Your Next Adventure Buddy

Meet Halsey, a radiant 6-year-old who weighs in at a perfect 53 lbs. This resilient beauty didn't have it easy - she bravely welcomed her adorable puppies in a shelter, of all places! But like any tale with a twist, her puppies have found their fairy-tale endings, and now it's Halsey's turn. With a little guidance, she'll be your loyal and well-behaved companion.

Do you love the outdoors? So does Halsey! She's packed with energy and dreams of daily brisk walks or even better, adventures with a family who loves to run or hike. While she's had limited playdates post-puppy days, we have a hunch she'll warm up to fellow canines with a proper introduction. Halsey has been looking for her home since January 2021 and has spent most of that time in boarding. She is 100% house trained and will never have an accident. She is as sweet and loving as can be, and you might see her on a field trip to the Spectrum with one of our amazing dog walkers.

In a nutshell, Halsey is young, spirited, and all set to embark on a lifetime of memories with you and your loved ones. Come meet her - she's eager to be part of your story! Please fill out a foster or adoption application today!November 4, 2024, 8:32 pm

Additional adoption info

All of our animals come fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered (if old enough), and microchipped. Puppies and kittens will be spayed/neutered and have all shots when they are old enough. There is an Adoption application, a quick phone interview to make sure it is a good fit, a meet and greet with the dog, then a home check, and an adoption contract. We ask for a $400 donation for adult dogs, and $500 for puppies at the time of adoption so that we can save other dogs from the shelter. The first step is to fill out an app here: https://thelittlereddog.org/adoption-form

More about this rescue

Dogs are man's best friend, but it is not always the other way around. The Little Red Dog was founded in memory of a little red American Pit Bull Terrier who did not make it. If you are familiar with the Michael Vick dog fighting case chronicled in The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption. The Little Red Dog was brutally beaten to death by Vick and his cronies because she didn't want to fight.

The Little Red Dog rescues dogs; red, blue, tan, white, brown, black and all colors in between. We do not discriminate against ANY breed; that's because we are a real rescue, and we will help as many animals as we can. Our primary goal is to get them into loving homes. Our hope that some day all of them make it, but most of all, we will never forget the Little Red Dog and many others who did not.
