My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ready to fall in love? Meet Madison! You can apply to bring this girl home by filling out an adoption app with us at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Madison Summary:
Madison is a 10-year-old female Shepherd mix. She does great with other dogs and cats, is potty and leash trained, and is laid back. She can be timid upon first meeting you but does warm up quickly. She does great on car rides and would fit into pretty much any calmer home environment, including an apartment setting.

Oh, Madison...where to begin with this girl. Madison is the kind of girl that doesn't just give her trust to anyone. You see, people have failed her in the past. We know that she has been passed around to at least TWO different families over the years. She did seem well cared for though, which makes it so hard to believe that her and her friend Nyxie were found in the middle of nowhere. While they were both chipped it was a dead end, and no one came to reclaim them in the shelter. We have no idea who would break the trust and loyalty that this girl put into them. She is so loyal and so sweet, and to watch her open up makes you feel truly lucky. Lucky that you have a chance to know her, and lucky that you are the one that gets to watch her open up a little more each day. We feel for this girl, that she has to look for a new family at ten years old but we are also thankful that we were able to take her in and help her on her journey! <3

Madison is a 10-year-old, 43lb female Shepherd mix. Madison is friendly with everyone but may be timid upon first meeting you. You can tell she wants to come up to you for lovings, but also wants to make sure you won't break her heart like those before once did. Madison hasn't been to any public outings, but given her personality would probably be unsure initially. If the new environment was calm, and she had her people with her she may enjoy being out and about. Madison does walk well on a leash and would probably love to go for walks once she feels settled. She also does wonderful on car rides.

Madison is a very gentle dog. You can tell right from the moment you meet her. She is just so calm, and so gentle you cannot help but fall in love with her. She doesn't jump on you, and she also doesn't almost knock you over with a super excited hug. She will just calmy come up to you and enjoy pets. Madison probably is not going to play fetch with you but she will happily hang out with you in the yard while you garden. We are unsure if Madison would enjoy playing in the water or not. She does enjoy chewing on hooves or antlers from time to time.

Madison has excellent house manners. She is given free-roam of the house when her fosters are away or at night. She has no experience being kenneled, and it simply isn't necessary for her. She is also completely potty trained. She is well out of her chewing stage, and don't have to worry about her being destructive. Madison would be a great candidate for apartment living. She is a lower-maintenance dog, and we have yet to hear her bark.

Madison is good with other dogs and cats. She has not been around any kids. If they were older and calmer, she would probably do great with them. More rowdy and younger children may be too much for her though as she can be timid at times of uncertainty. Madison has not shown to have any food aggression. She has not tried to resource guard anything either.

Madison is so thankful for any attention she gets and has such a gentle nature. It is really a joy to have her around. You can tell that she is just so thankful to be back in the home with her people and be getting lovings. She has so much love in her and watching her open up more and more each day is so fun to see.

Madison would do best in a calmer home. One that is wanting a lower-maintenance dog that will just hang out and chill with them. Madison would be a wonderful companion for someone that works from home and is looking for a buddy while they work. Madison would love to be adopted with Nyxie, but it is not a requirement. They have been on quite the journey together, but are not so bonded that they could not be separated if the perfect family came along for either one of them.

Madison is being fostered in Kiowa, OK. We do adopt out of state, but you would be responsible for picking your new dog up. Her adoption fee is $150 which will include her DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. She will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
