My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear is an approximately 18-month old male Shar Pei mix who did not have the best start at life. Bear had been dumped in rural TN a while ago and had been living in the elements for a while. A concerned citizen had been trying to feed and care for Bear, but it got to be too much when he came down with a case of demodectic mange.

When Bear got to his foster home, he was in terrible shape. His hair loss was profound from the mange. He was immediately started on medication to treat his mange. Unfortunately, he was also discovered to have severe ear infections in both ears. This caused his head to remain cocked to one side and his gait to be wobbly. Fortunately, his ear infections cleared up. With the help of medicated baths, his mange was cleared in a couple of weeks. He really enjoyed the distraction mat with peanut butter during his baths.

Bear settled in fast in his foster home. Once his skin started healing and his hair started growing back, he enjoyed playing with his foster family's two personal dogs. He is very submissive to the two dogs despite being twice their size. He also loves to play with the 10-year-old boy who lives in the house too. Despite spending an unknown amount of time living on the mean streets, he is completely housetrained. Bear prefers to dine alone. He isn't a very big fan of being crated when the humans leave, but he is working on it. He is working on his house and lease manners as well.

Bear is a very sweet boy who loves to give kisses and follows his foster parents around the house. He loves to chew on squeaky toys and chew bones. His foster family thinks he is one of the easiest foster dogs they've ever had.

Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event!

The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested positive for heartworms and has been treated in our care.

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.
