My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Carlisle is a 9 year old mixed breed dog that came to us from a local shelter.  Carlisle's long hair was extremely matted and it cut off circulation to one of his back paws.  The hair was so matted and tight it cut into his skin and when he was under anesthesia to be neutered, he was shaved down.  They found maggots in his wound!  Carlisle needed a rescue to nurse him back to health and to help him get his FHO surgery done so he could walk without pain.

Carlisle's surgery was completed last year and he is all healed from that.  Carlisle can be a bit of a character with people and dogs. Like a lot of grumpy old men, he voices his disapproval of things happening with a growl.  He has never bitten - he just likes to tell you he is not happy.  We do not know what happened in his past but we are certain he was not treated well due to the condition he was in when he was found.  Carlisle is leash trained and will go for short walks.  He is happier to be able to potty in the yard - he has a fully fenced yard in his foster home.  Carlisle is crate trained but prefers to be gated off with a comfy bed and some pee pads if you are going to be gone for a long time.  He does not want to be around active dogs or kids.  Carlisle is good with other dogs as long as they are not the in your face and jumping all over types.  He is fine with cats.  He loves treats and is food motivated.  Carlisle does NOT like to be groomed.  Not one bit.  His foster mom has worked with him as much as she can and knows he can tolerate brushing but absolutely hates the clippers.  Carlisle needs to be sedated and shaved down at least 2-3 times a year.  This costs about $150 dollars at our vet.  Carlisle has come as far as he can in his foster home and it is now time for him to find his own home!  Although he is welcome to stay as long as needed, we know this boy wants to be someone's pal.

Carlisle is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  He has recently been shaved down also.  His adoption fee is $300
