My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ready to fall in love? Meet Nyxie! You can apply to bring this girl home by filling out an adoption app with us at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Nyxie Summary:
Nyxie is a 10-year-old female Shepherd mix. She does great with other dogs and cats, is potty and leash trained, and is laid back. She has yet to meet a stranger, does great on car rides, and would fit into pretty much any calmer home environment.
--------------------------------------------

Nyxie has to be one of the happiest dogs that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is full of so much love and happiness, it is truly contagious. When she gets super happy(like right after good scratchies), she will start dancing around and barking. You can just tell in her eyes that she is truly happy, and it is one of the most heartwarming things ever.

Nyxie came to us after she and her friend Madison were found in the middle of nowhere...literally. You could tell that they were well taken care of..they were even micro-chipped. However, the chip info was outdated and they went unclaimed in the shelter. After some more research, we found out that both Nyxie and Madison had already been rehomed once before ending up in the same home together. We don't know for how long they were in the same home, but they were definitely well cared for. Something must have happened though. Something big. Maybe they were given away? Maybe their owner passed away? Could they have truly been dumped by the family? We simply have no idea how they ended up all on their own. One thing was clear though, whatever happened...no one was coming for them. We hate that they had to end homeless at their age, but are also happy that we could welcome them to our fluffy butt family! <3

Nyxie is a 10-year-old, 63lb female Shepherd mix. Nyxie is one of those dogs that never meets a stranger. She is very friendly and all tail wags when meeting new people! She is well-behaved and does not jump on you. Nyxie does well on the leash, and would probably love going for walks! As far as hikes, we are not sure of her stamina for them but we know she would do her best to keep up with her people! She just loves her people and is so happy when you include her in activities. Nyxie does great on car rides and would love to join you on road trips.

Nyxie is overall a pretty calm dog. When she is super happy or excited she will dance around you, and sometimes bark but that is about as active as she gets. She probably won't play fetch with you, unless you are throwing treats. This girl is CHOW HOUND, and will probably do anything for a scooby snack! ;) We are unsure if she would enjoy playing in the water or not. She does still enjoy playing with chew toys such as hooves and antlers.

Nyxie has excellent house manners. She is trusted with free-roam of the house when her foster family is away and at night. She is potty trained, but not kennel trained. It is not necessary to kennel her, and to our knowledge, she has no experience with one. Nyxie is well out of the chewing stage and has not tried chewing on anything she shouldn't. Nyxie is not a barker. The only time she is vocal is when she is super excited and even then it is just a couple woofs. She will also make sure that you never "forget" her outside and will be sure to bark at the door when she is ready to come in.

Nyxie is good with other dogs and cats. She is not being fostered around any kids. Given her lovable and gentle personality, we figure she would be fine with children(as long as they were respectful of her space.) Nyxie has not shown to have any food aggression and does not try to resource guard things.

Nyxie would do best in a calmer home. One that is wanting a lower maintenance dog that will still want to be involved in their activities. Nyxie would be a great companion to just chill on the porch and watch the sunrise with, go for that afternoon walk through the neighborhood, and then cuddle up to you on the couch later that night. Nyxie would love to be adopted with Madison, but it is not a requirement. They have been on quite the journey together, but are not so bonded that they could not be separated if the perfect family came along for either one of them.

Nyxie is being fostered in Kiowa, OK. We do adopt out of state, but you would be responsible for picking your new dog up. Her adoption fee is $150 which will include her DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. She will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
