This delicate beauty is Bellamy. She may be small - but she is mighty! Bellamy is a 1-1/2-year-old chihuahua mix. She is a rich caramel color, with dark charcoal smudges on her muzzle, touching the points of her ears and then racing down her back, straight to the tip of her tail. Her fur is silky soft and she loves to be petted, held, and cuddled.
Bellamy walks on a leash like a pro - she loves to strut her stuff, turning any sidewalk into a runway. She loves to be the center of attention. She thinks everything is all about her, all the time. She has a ton of love to give, a ton of kisses at the ready, and a ton of energy. Buckle up buttercup - this girl is ready to play! Bellamy gets loud and excited when she is playing - which could be overwhelming to dogs smaller than she is. Bellamy would do best as a solo dog in her home or she needs to have a bigger canine brother or sister that can just ignore her "queen of the mountain" nonsense. She has lived with cats in the past and did fine.
Bellamy will push the envelope - she wants to see just how serious her parents are. Like a teenager ignoring curfew or wearing a skirt she knows her momma would never approve of, Bellamy will try to get away without following the rules. Once she knows there is no wiggle room for her shenanigans, she will follow the routine. But she is certainly going to try things her own way first.
Bellamy is a great watchdog. There is a big, strong bark coming out of that tiny body! She is not a nuisance barker, but if something is happening outside she is going to make sure her family knows about it. She will also bark at new people that come into your home. She will eventually settle down, but she may get between you and your company until she knows they can be trusted. Nobody is getting close to her people without her approval!
She would do best in a home with older children. Small children can move quickly, which to Bellamy may signal playtime. Rough & tumble, zooming around the house, jumping in the air, wrestling kind of playtime. Just as she could be overwhelming for another small dog, she certainly could be overwhelming for a small child. Kids over age 7 would be best, as they can respect her small size and recognize the importance of not accidentally getting her all riled up when it is not a designated playtime.
Bellamy knows to go outside to go potty, but she also uses potty pads in the house since her foster mama works. She sleeps through the night in the big bed, burrowed deep down under the covers. She finds her space, curls up next to the other dogs in the house, and is down for the night. She is the best foot warmer you are ever going to find!
Bellamy is 100% affection, 100% of the time. Once you crack through her smarty-pants shell, she is a beautiful dog with a deep soul. She will be at your feet all night, by your side when you check your emails in the morning, and in your lap when you are trying to do a ZOOM call from home. Bellamy is looking for a place where she can be held and loved, and where she can protect the people who love her and the home she lives in.
Bellamy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $400
