My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bixby is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, male, DOB: 7/31/21

With an engaging, larger-than-life personality and so much love he is brimming with enthusiasm to share, Bixby is ready to reveal his delightfully sweet charm to one-and-all. Confident and completely comfortable in his own skin, he’ll be looking for lots of interaction and playtime whether it be from people or other felines or a combination of both for this engaging and highly social feline. But while completely well-intentioned, he is an adventurous young swashbuckler who will most likely overwhelm shy, retiring, laid-back, and/or timid personalities with his zesty and brash, ruff-n-tumble, ambush-style antics and play-style, particularly if boundaries are not maintained and respected.

A sincerely loving young cat eager to share his affections with those he loves when opportunities are presented (and sometimes when they are not), he’ll reveal a much softer-side as he begins to settle-down after play sessions, complete with genuine good-nature and delightfully sweet, uninhibited invitations for one-on-one attention. Seeking encouragement from gentle strokes and soft-spoken words, Bixby revels in being close to people, he enjoys being held and snuggling in peoples’ arms (when it suits him), and he will choose attention and interaction with those he loves over just about any other activity.

Bixby came to Monroe SPCA as an orphan needing critical care - barely able to eat on his own, found outdoors. It was shortly after he came into our care that we discovered a wound on his back that had been infected with maggots. After some painstaking removal of said infestation, they were completely gone and it was time to heal. He spent his first months with Monroe SPCA in medical foster being treated for his wound, along with being treated for Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, and fleas.

Now a happy, healthy feline, Bixby is looking for his forever home with a family who can give him the time and attention a young cat needs. Although Bixby can be adopted individually, we recommend a paired-adoption with another of our other young cats with compatible personalities and temperament.

Bixby is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Bixby currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
