Additional adoption info

HSCC does not use a formal adoption application process. We ask that you tell us, by email, in your own words why you want one of our dogs and the home environment you will have for the dog, such as, house/apartment, yard, fencing, family/children(ages), other pets, who will be primarily responsible for care, etc.

We do not adopt dogs under 10 months old to apartments. We normally do not adopt to singles under age 21, but exceptions are sometimes made, depending on the circumstances.

We do have an Adoption Agreement for adopting families.

Go meet their pets

We show all our dogs by appointment. We are available pretty much 24/7 as long as we know you are coming to see us. We try to arrange transport or meet adopting families in a convenient location when necessary.

We have a thrift store located at 108 East Pecan full of bargains that are donated to us to support our discounted spay/neuter program. The store is open Thursday-Saturday.

We also sponsor a 3rd weekend in April county-wide garage sale and adoption event.

More about this rescue

Our Humane Society formed in 2003 and received a 501(c)(3) determination in 2004. Our primary mission is to provide discounted spay/neuter vouchers to low income families in our county.

We have a no-kill shelter, and we try to rescue as many adoptable dogs as we can from local kill shelters.
