Rosemary is our Pup of the Week!

Introducing Rosemary! Our sweet mature lady is 10 years old but enough spunk that defies her age. She currently weighs a (slightly hefty) 20 pounds and is working on trimming down just a little. Rosemary has had her left eye removed, and after a clean bill of health from the vet, she is now ready to find her forever home!

Housebreaking, Crate-Training, and Commands

One of the many wonderful things about mature dogs is that they often come already house-broken, as is the case with Rosie. She easily sleeps through the night and is happy to oblige with her duties once taken outside. As far as crate-training goes, it seems like it is not something that Rosie is accustomed to. It appears that in her 10 years of life, her previous owner probably did not crate her. She has grown fond of her foster family in a short time, and was very happy to sleep soundly through the night once given a bed in their bedroom.

Rosie is new here and is focusing on settling into her foster home, but she surely will be able to report back on her list of commands in no time.

Behavior around other Dogs, Cats, and Kids

Rosie lives with another foster dog and they are both respectful of one another and do not generally interact too much. During a playdate with two other dogs, Rosie definitely seemed interested in playing or at least partaking in a game of chase, though her feelings were not exactly reciprocated by the other dog. Rosie seems to do fine with other dogs and might even enjoy living with other dogs since she has a bit of separation anxiety.

Behavior around People

We are still learning about Rosie, but so far she is very interested in making new human friends. She can be a bit shy at first, but in no time she’s giving sweet little kisses to her new friend. Rosie was previously one person’s best friend and likely spent a lot of time with her former owner; it seems she would do great in a home where she can spend a lot of time with her person.

Exercise Needs

Rosie seems to be the kind of dog that is happy to be a couch potato, but has random and short-lived bursts of energy. Her foster mom affectionately refers to her as a tiny land hippo when she races across her fenced-in backyard! She has two speeds: stopped and zoom. Once she has recovered from her eye surgery, we will see how Rosie feels about going on walks.

Rosie is so sweet and so clearly just wants to be loved. Are you ready to open your home and your heart to Rosie? Contact us today!

All In-State Applications will be considered with some preference given to more Local Applications. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS.
