Ripley will steal your heart without you even knowing it. Before you know it, he will be your best friend. He will be your biggest fascination, after all, there is nothing better than watching a more timid dog come out of its shell and start to blossom. Ripley was dumped in the middle of nowhere with his friend Roscoe(who has already been adopted). They were just wandering around all alone when they were found. When no one reclaimed them, they joined our fluffy butt family! ❤
Ripley is a 2-year-old male Great Pyrenees mix. He is what some people may call a "Pocket Pyr". He only weighs around 40lbs right now and won't be getting much bigger. It was obvious that when Ripley first came to us that he had never been in the house, or even truly part of the family. Everything was so new to him and he was quite unsure. However, he is starting to feel more comfortable every day and is ready to find his forever family.
Ripley is not a dog that will go running up to everyone that comes by to say hello. He is the kind of dog that needs someone to encourage him to say hello. Ideally, they would do that with gentle words, soft pets, and yummy treats. This boy's true colors show once you have earned his trust, which is a very special thing. Once you have earned it, you will not find a sweeter or more loyal dog. Ripley is more of a homebody. He would prefer to spend his days watching Netflix or playing with the other dogs in the home. He isn't someone who would feel comfortable always going out and about. All he needs is his people, a doggie friend or two, and a nice cozy spot to sleep. Ripley is working on his leash training, but it is still a new concept to him. He is getting better, but as of right now he wouldn't make a good hiking partner. Unless you had one of those giant backpacks that you can carry him around in 😉 Now he does do great in the car. Once in he is very patient and quiet.
Ripley's energy level is a perfect blend. He loves playing with toys and his dog siblings. He cuddles on the couch with his foster for extended periods. He sleeps through the night and takes naps throughout the day. He’s both playful and lazy. Given his personality, he probably won't play fetch with him. But you may get him to chase after a ball...or he may just stare at you and wait for you to go get it. It can go either way with the Great Pyrenees! We cannot say if Ripley is a full-on water dog. We can say that he didn't mind being out in the rain to potty and did great during his bath though. Ripley absolutely loves toys, any and all toys will get played with!
Ripley can be a mischievous pup at times. Most of the time he likes chewing on his elk antler, however, he may try to sneak in a slipper or throw pillow if he has access to them. He is quick to drop it though if you tell him no. He may be two but this guy probably did not have a puppyhood or at least not a good one. Ripley is kennel and potty trained. Ripley is not a barker but he is a talker. He will look straight at you and bark (not annoyingly). He wants you to pet and love on him. Then he will go busy himself with a toy & come back after a while. 🙂 Didn't I tell you that this boy would steal your heart once he settles in? I mean how can you not absolutely melt at that?!
Ripley is good with other dogs. In fact, we feel it would be very beneficial for him to have another dog in the home. He is still gaining confidence and it would really help if he had another bigger and playful dog in his home to show him the ropes. However, if someone is home all the time and is patient he may do okay as an only dog. Ripley has not been around any cats. Given his personality, we feel he would do fine with a proper introduction. As far as kids, he hasn't been around any in his foster home. He is initially timid though, so it would be best if they were older and not very rowdy. He would love to be a kiddos cuddle buddy and companion, but a really loud and/or rough kiddo would scare him. He definitely needs a gentle touch.

We think that Ripley would do ok as an only dog as long as he has lots of time with his person. He’s a very affectionate dog. Loves to cuddle and interact with you. He showed no interest in my dogs the first 3 days but now loves to play with them. I do think they’ve helped him to quickly adjust and figure out how to be an inside pet. 🙂 I think he would do best with kids who would be gentle with him. He is coming out of his shell more and more every day, becoming comfortable. Ripley came into the rescue very skittish and unsure of everything. He is easily startled. His nature is incredibly gentle, he would never hurt anyone, but would likely feel on edge if his environment was often unpredictable.
Ripley is the sweetest gentle boy. He is dainty, half the size of my two Pyrenees. He’s fully potty trained, doesn’t mind his kennel at all, and sleeps sound through the night in my bedroom. He loves to cuddle on the couch with me and enjoys being wherever I am. I don’t think he had ever been indoors before. I initially had to carry him through the doorways because he was scared of them. He has overcome that fear & doorways don’t seem to be too bad anymore! He was very submissive with my dogs. When they came near him, he would cower to the ground on his back and just lay there. He now runs around and plays with them. Ripley is growing more comfortable and sure of himself every day!
Ripley can be mischievous so he is kenneled while I’m away, just in case. I went to take the trash out the other night and when I returned, my packaged loaf of bread somehow found its way from the kitchen countertop to the couch. Ripley is still keeping his eyes out for who it might have been. 🙂 He might be a picky eater. I’ve tried feeding him 3 brands of dog food. He wouldn’t touch the first 2 but approved of Science Diet. So far, he’s accepted all treats. Ripley loves to ask for more pets and to give you his paw. He frequently comes to rest his head on my thigh. He is the sweetest boy and will make a great companion!
Ripley is being fostered in Tulsa, OK. His adoption fee is $225 and that will include his DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. He will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
