My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at the smile this boy wears. You would never know that he has had a rough life.

Stoops lost his leg at some point in his life, we don't know why. He was found all alone hanging around at an old growing farm. Our guess is he was abandoned. They left off to new things, and he was left all alone. He developed a severe skin infection, had double ear infections, was in desperate need of a dental, and on top of all of that had to try to survive on his own with only three legs. This would cause many to break, but not Stoops. This boy pushed on and when he was finally rescued he showed only smiles. He gave only kindness, and only wanted to please. He did not let his past consume him, instead, he embraced life and was ready to start his new life with a smile on his face.

Stoops is a 2-year-old male Great Pyrenees mix, and he is ready to find an amazing family. He has gone through treatment for everything and is ready to find a family that is just as amazing as him. Stoops does great when meeting new people, he isn't a jumper or super energetic. He is the kind of dog that will calmy walk up to you and just hang out, and if you find his sweet spot will lean into you...the look of pure bliss he is in from a simple good scratch will melt your heart. Stoops has been to a few public outings and has done great. He was very friendly and well-behaved. Stoops isn't fully leash trained yet but is getting there. He does enjoy going on walks but isn't able to go on super long walks. He wouldn't have the stamina for long hikes unless they were paced and leisurely. If you prefer going on road trips instead of walks, Stoops will be right there with you. He does great on car rides!

Stoops is a moderate energy dog. He does an excellent job of matching the energy level of his family. Whatever you want to do, he will try to be right there with you with a smile on his face. He is not into playing fetch, but most Great Pyrenees and their mixes aren't. He would probably love to plop down and watch over his humans while they played in the yard though. He may even chase after you for a bit and get in some playtime. We are unsure if Stoops is a water dog or not. Given how he is a tri-pod he probably would not be a dog who loves going for swims but he may enjoy playing in a smaller body of water. Stoops does enjoy playing with his toys, his favorite are chew toys(such as antlers, bones, etc). He has not shown to have any issues with resource guarding his things from other dogs.

Stoops has great house manners. He has not shown to be a big chewer or destructive. He is potty and kennel trained. At night, he has free-roam of the house and likes sleeping on the couch. Given this information and his energy level, we believe that Stoops would do well in an apartment setting. He does bark, but only when he hears something unfamiliar. He isn't an excessive barker, but he will definitely let you know if something seems off.

Stoops does great with everyone he meets. He loves all people, including kids, and does great with other dogs. He has not been around any cats but given his mellowness, we believe he would do fine with them.

Stoops is ready for a place to belong. He is a very loving and calm dog. Listens well. He is a little cautious but warms up fast. For all the reasons he has to be grouchy, it is inspiring how happy and carefree he is. Huge cuddler. Huge lover. Stoops just needs someone to love him as much as he loves!

Stoops would be happy in just about any home environment. His favorite thing is laying close to you and getting lovings. He can be calm or he can be playful, it just depends on the environment and mood. All this guy needs is someone who will love him unconditionally, and he will absolutely blossom! <3

Stoops is being fostered in Oklahoma City, OK. We do adopt out of state, but adopters are responsible for the pickup of their new dog. His adoption fee is $225 which includes his DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. He will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.

*It will also include his dental, and treatment of his skin and ear infections.
