Arrival Story: Benny came to us from a shelter, where he was taken in from a hoarding situation.

Age / Weight: 8-10 years and 70lbs

Personality: Benny is a gentle-natured, distinguished old gentleman. Well for the most part. The big guy still has some surprises up his sleeve so don’t count on a totally predictable, mellow, senior boy here!

Benny’s life mission is getting attention from any person within his reach. Everyone who meets him, loves him! He'll sneak attack you with kisses. Ben can be pretty pushy trying to gain your affection. He prefers an end-seat on the couch, with a big, fuzzy fleece blanket, that he’ll bury his muzzle or whole body into. Benny gets up in the morning, ready to take on the day (stretch, potty outside, quick zoomie, yard inspection, eat breakfast, get a belly rub) and after about an hour or so hops on the couch to snuggle in a blanket. It’s the same for afternoon snack and dinner. He snores, uses the nice dog bed to wipe his mouth on after meals, is not sorry about knocking over the food bin for a freebie snack. It’s Benny’s world and we’re just living in it! He really seems to love and thrive on a routine in his foster home and enjoys the company of both men and women. He hasn’t interacted with kids yet.

Benny enjoys an array of food items, except fruit. He currently eats a mix of kibble and wet food along with some pumpkin and other veggies thrown in for some added nutrition. Very gentle taking treats from hands. He is always crated while humans are away to ensure his safety. Benny is a champ on car rides, gazing out the window, and vet staff adore him. Ben lives with another dog but is kept separate due to the resident dog, not Benny. Ben has had no reactivity with other dogs and lived with dogs in his previous life, likely there would be no issues. No doubt he would steal another resident animal’s food, though.

Benny has many old man lumps and bumps that have been looked at by a vet. Suspicious lumps were tested and confirmed benign. Two were removed (on his foot and under his tail) to ensure they didn’t grow and cause discomfort. As a senior, his new people should keep an eye on these lumps to ensure the utmost of comfort for the big guy.

Forever Home: Benny would like a home with like-minded people who enjoy naps and cuddles and letting a 70lb dog hang out on their lap. We don’t think he’d enjoy the activity level and unpredictability of young children but may really enjoy hanging out with older kids. Don't let the senior aspect of this good boy deter you. He is a gem who has lots of love to give.
