WINSTON
I am an 2 year old Italian Greyhound who is very playful and loving. My foster mom says I’m a handsome boy. I get lots of compliments on my looks when we go for a walk, I am very well behaved on the leash. A Ruffwear WebMaster Harness is a must with me because if I get frightened and break loose I will be very hard to get back. I am very shy and will need a very light hand and positive discipline, and it takes me a little while to warm up to new people but I do warm up.
I have grown up and learned a lot since coming to my foster home but I still need help being a good boy. I was very traumatized when I lost my home. I need a home with another dog that will allow me to follow along and snuggle up to them. I enjoy sitting with my foster mom when she reads, she will let me snuggle up to her and cover me up so I’m all warm and feel safe. I love being held. I like being able to sleep with you, I will usually start out on the dog bed but in the early morning I’ll get in bed with the humans.
I am very insecure and have a very high level of separation anxiety, so I need a parent that is home most of the time. When left alone, even with another dog for long periods of time I get into trouble. I am a great paper shredder but it’s usually something I’m not supposed to have destroyed. I really love books when they are left down within my reach. I don’t mind laying in a crate with my foster brother as long as the door is open but when you close and lock the door, I just go crazy. I don’t get locked up because my foster mom is afraid, I’ll hurt myself and she doesn’t want to traumatize me. I was so scared when she first got me.
I will go outside to go to the bathroom and I have gotten much better about asking but I’m subtle about it. BUT I will also sneak off and go in the house. I usually pee on the blanket on the dog bed, so at least I usually pee on my own stuff. I will need to be kept out of the sun most of the time, or wear protection outside since I have white hair and very pink skin with freckles on my back. I can sunburn easily and that could lead to skin cancer since we Italian Greyhounds have thin tender skin. Oh, did I say I really like to play! I really add a lot of life and laughter wherever I am. I hope you will consider giving me a chance to share my love with you. My foster mom says I’m like having a small child around, you have to check to see what I’m into if I’m out of sight.
Winston is a joy, he’s so playful and funny. He brightens up a room when he walks in. He does sometimes forget himself and plays rough. If you spend time with him and show him love he will return that love many times over.
