My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wichita is a special lady. She is unique in that her hair is raised along her neck like the Rhodesian Ridgeback's. Her coloring is striking with the reddish-brown undercoat and highlights of black plus white accents. She is beautiful.  She is also unique because she arrived at Cinderella Pet Rescue with a broken leg. Luckily, the vet was able to mend the bone without surgery. Wichita spent 6 weeks in a crate in a foster home where she was walked on a leash every few hours. In spite of the boredom (rough for a puppy!) she never destroyed her toys or her bed. She would bark when she needed to go outside. She never had an accident in her crate and was loving throughout the ordeal. She healed very well and is now super athletic. This energetic girl is healthy, running, playing and jumping. She gets along well with other dogs and is happy to share her space with canine companions. Born in June of 2021, she weighs about 50 lbs. Wichita is a smart, loving girl who is eager to be part of an active family or someone's loyal companion. She is ready to have some fun! And, more important, to get some lasting love!

More about this rescue

Formed in 2008, Cinderella Pet Rescue was established to rescue animals from abuse, neglect and abandonment and to help prepare the for adoption. Additionally CPR promotes spay/neuter to reduce the serious homeless pet crisis in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. An all volunteer organization, there are normally between 55 and 65 dogs at our no-kill shelter as well as a couple dozen cats. Even more pets are placed in foster homes in preparation for adoption. Not funded by anyone, Cinderella Pet Rescue counts on donations and fundraisers to support the needs of the animals in care, from food to veterinary treatment. More volunteers and foster homes are always needed.
