My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Does your dog need a dog?!  Feel guilty about your dog being home all day alone?! Lucy maybe just what your dog needs!

Lucy is a sweet shy girl. She prefers a quiet home & will warm up rather quickly once she trusts you.  She does great with other dogs and is fine with cats. Lucy has mastered the art of sleeping quietly in her crate at night but is trust worthy out of  her crate as well. Except socks, she loves to eat socks. She is house trained but will also use wee wee pads if preferred.

Lucy is an absolute thorn in my side! She will come sit with you to be pet and will gently give you a little kiss. She is also will take a treat so sweetly out of your hand.

Then there is her quirky side. We honestly don't know what happened to this girl but she will retreat to her crate if anyone stands or walks near her.

She requires a fenced yard as, try as I may, this girl will not walk on a leash. Again, if you stand or walk she runs to her safe place.

I wouldn't say Lucy is a couch potato but she is now a super active puppy either. Definitely not you typical Jack Russell!

Lucy will need a person or people with a bit of extra patience! All the hard work is done but quirky is and understatement when describing Lucy!

Interested in adopting me?  To fill out an application visit 3 Hearts 4 Paws.  Please note: we generally do not adopt out of state unless it is within 1-2 hours of us.  Currently due to COVID we are unable to accommodate out of state adoptions.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the application. All required fields must be completed in order for your application to be considered. It's important that we place the right dog with the right family. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment...please ensure you have considered this commitment before submitting an application. Once all reference checks are completed, you will be notified if your application has been approved. Upon approval of your application, a "meet and greet" is scheduled. All of our rescues are fostered in loving, caring homes until we find the right permanent home for them. Our foster volunteers will contact you to make arrangements to meet your potential new family member. A home visit is required before we will place any of our rescues in a forever home. Upon completion of a successful home visit, an adoption contract is completed. Adoption fees typically range from $175 to $375..

More about this rescue

We are a rescue organization fueled by our love of animals and the wonderful volunteers who support us and give freely of their time and dedication to the rescue efforts.

3 Hearts 4 Paws Animal Rescue was founded with love and passion and is dedicated not only to the lives of those we save, but to the so many lives that are lost. We are a non profit organization comprised of volunteers who give selflessly and open their hearts and their homes, as a stepping stone to the permanent home every rescue animal dreams of. We are not a shelter, each of our rescues are cared for in the warmth of their foster homes, as we help them on their journey waiting for the place they can call their own.

We are primarily a canine rescue, pulling dogs from high kill shelters across the U.S. Our goal is to save as many lives as we possibly can and to bring an awareness to those around us of the pain and suffering that occcurs in puppy mills and the fate that awaits those thrown away to a shelter. PLEASE...Adopt...don't Shop!
