Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buddy, Male, Akbash, 7 years old, 127 lbs.
Big lovable Buddy sadly needs to find a new home because his previous owner has moved overseas and was unable to take him.
Buddy’s people are number one in his world and it doesn’t take long to become his people. Buddy is a very happy, loyal and loving homebody. Staying home with his family and keeping his eye on the homestead are his favourite things.
While Buddy loves affection, he is not needy. He is content to lay around in close proximity to his people. That being said, Buddy also loves going for walks and wading in the water. He is excellent on and off leash.
Buddy gets along well with other dogs so long as food is not involved. He shares his foster home with his best friend, a female Akbash, and they are fed separately with no issues.
Although, Buddy has always been a companion dog, his guardian instincts are strong. He will alert you of arrivals but does not carry on. He does have stranger danger with unknown people in his home. However, a short walk with the new person and Buddy will be, well, a buddy.
Buddy came from an urban environment, but after seeing him thrive in his rural foster home, we feel he would do best in a quiet home in a rural/farm setting.
Experienced Akbash or other livestock guardian people are preferred, but we will consider other experienced dog people with the right environment for Buddy.
The adoption fee for Buddy is $500.00. He has been neutered, microchipped, and his vaccinations are up to date.
