My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sept. 21 Update -I had my surgery this Tuesday and MSU is very pleased with me. They said I'm doing really well. I was so excited to see my foster mommy, Judy, when she came to pick me up ... I even kissed her face! Won't you please consider adopting me? I'll be ready to go in just a few weeks.

September 10 Update: WE'RE THERE!
Our prayers have been answered! We have raised 100% of the money needed to operate on both of Chessie's knees on Monday, September 19. Thank you so much to all of the generous people out there who have become Chessie's Guardian Angels. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Each and every one of you are already a part of making Chessie's future so much better!

August 25 Update:
I went to see Dr. Tim again yesterday and he took some x-rays. He said my knees are beyond luxating and have luxated to the point of being fused incorrectly outside of the joint. I have an appointment to go to MSU on Monday to see if what kind of surgery can be done on both knees to help me. Shar Pei Savers has already spent over $600 on my care and will need lots more for my surgeries. Please, won't you become my Guardian Angel to help SPS pay for my surgeries? Even $5 or $10 would be a big help! Just go to http://www.sharpeisavers.com/chessie.htm. to sponser me. Thank you

August 14 Update:
I had a very nice visit with the orthopedic vet last Thursday. Dr. Tim thinks I might have a hip problem along with the knee issues ... gee, I just can't seem to catch a break lately! I won't be able to have x-rays for two weeks, since I was just spayed & had entropion surgery and the vet does not want me to have anesthesia again so soon. I am also too emaciated to even get my vaccinations done right now. They are going to try to fatten me up for two weeks and will also try to cure the fungal ear infection that I'm fighting ... hopefully then we'll know more about my surgeries. Dr. Tim says I am well socialized and have a beautiful temperament.

Hi, I'm Francesca, "Chessie" for short. I've had a rough start in life, unfortunately, but SPS has promised me they are going to make everything all better for me. You see, my last owners decided to dump me in a shelter instead of getting me the knee surgery I need. I have to have my knees fixed because my patellas are dislocated and I can barely walk.

Jo met me yesterday and this is what she said about me: "Best way I can describe her rear legs walking is to imagine a two year old trying to walk in her mommy's high heeled shoes over a gravel driveway ... to see her walk is to feel empathy for the pain she must be in."

You can see Dr. Karr helping me walk in the picture in the lower left and me trying to walk by myself in the middle left picture. It will be a happy day when I can walk without assistance and play with my new Shar Pei foster sister and brothers. I can't wait!

Shar Pei Savers needs to raise $1500+ for my vet care. Please, won't you become my Guardian Angel? Please visit www.sharpeisavers.com to become my angel. Thank you!
