Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Wezza
Age: approx. 2-3 years old
Gender: Female (spayed)
Breed: Egyptian Baladi Dog
Health status: fully vaccinated, dewormed, treated for parasites and healthy
Size: large
Dogs: yes
Cats, birds, rabbits: unknown
Energy: medium
Children: yes
Location: Wezza is a rescue dog in Egypt, who will be flown to Ontario as soon as an adoptive family is approved and waiting.
We consider adoptive families from anywhere in Eastern Ontario.
RESCUE STORY:
Wezza lived on the streets of Egypt, where she was being fed by a very kind woman.
Like many street dogs being unspayed, she had a litter of puppies. The lady brought a box Wezza and her puppies could stay in and be safe from peoele, kids and other dogs.
But after a couple of days hungry street dogs ate all of her puppies... that's right! We had no idea they could and would do that.
Poor Wezza was absolutely besides herself; she was crazy with grief, sorrow and sadness, crying day in and out.
That's when the lady got in touch with our Egyptian rescue partner, asking for help saving Wezza.
Wezza arrived at the boarding with breasts full of milk and puss. This poor mother was not only overcome with loss but in excruciating pain.
Immediately rushed to the vet, she was prescribed antibiotics which helped her get better.
She's been living in boarding nearly a year now.
TEMPERAMENT AND PERSONALITY:
Wezza has a very sweet, calm and gentle temperament. Like a great mom, she is amazing with other dogs, especially those that are afraid, nervous or otherwise unbalanced.
During her stay at the boarding, she has helped many dogs to calm down and realize that other dogs mean no harm.
While at the boarding, she was grouped with another very afraid Baladi Dog, who was afraid of other dogs, humans and virtually its own shadow as well;
thanks to Wezza and her calm, friendly and loving nature, she helped this dog realize that he is safe, cared for and loved.
Thanks to her, this dog is now given a chance and being prepared to find a family and a stable life abroad.
In general, Egyptian Baladi dogs are known to be very loyal and devoted family members.
They are very intelligent, highly trainable and love performing tasks.
They make great guardians, and exceptional cuddlers.
They are watchful, and protective of their family.
Most have fun, clownish personalities and love to entertain their human and four legged family members with clownish antics.
CURRENT DIET:
Wezza eats dry and wet food.
POINTS TO CONSIDER:
Wezza is a physically beautiful and emotionally balanced girl.
It seems that she would make an idea candidate to be trained as a certified therapy dog.
She is larger than our usual Egyptian Baladi Dogs, thus when learning to walk on leash, she will need a 'stronger human' in case she'd pull.
Otherwise, she s pretty much perfect; all she wants is stability, to love and be loved by her humans.
HEALTH AND VACCINATION STATUS:
Lilly is in good health.
She will be spayed prior to flying to Ontario, vaccinated (Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Corona Viral Enteritis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus Leptospirosis, Rabies),
treated for worms and ticks and microchipped. He has basic CBC blood panel drawn in Egypt to ensure there are no ‘hidden’ viruses and is healthy.
She also has been tested for tick- borne diseases ie. lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis as well as for internal parasites, all with negative results.
ADOPTION FEE:
The adoption fee is $995 and includes the flight and the travel crate she will fly in.
