My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wayne is a very reserved doggo. He is calm, cool and collected, he does not concern himself with minor stresses. Wayne is well mannered; he will even offer his paw for a shake after he sits like a Good Boy. Wayne has a very peaceful energy; he likes to sit with his people and chillax. He is a young boy, just three years old, but he has an old soul. He weighs 52 pounds, and he is listed as a Harrier and Shar Pei mix. While at the county shelter, his tail was amputated due to a case of Happy Tail, which is when a dog is such a wagger that they nick the end, and it will not heal. Wayne took a moment to learn to wag his nubbin’. Wayne’s forever family is going to need to understand that Wayne will need time to decompress, become comfortable and to become secure in his forever home. This is not an overnight process. The general guideline is three days to decompress, three weeks to become comfortable and three months to become secure. Wayne has been with Home Fur Good for almost a year, and prior to that he was in the county shelter. Wayne has been adopted, but in some cases, he was not even given three days to settle in. He needs a family with a big heart, that will give him time to understand that he truly is home. Wayne has shown some separation anxiety, and this is a behavior that can be addressed, but his forever family will need to be committed to working with Wayne. Wayne is an amazing boy, who loves to hang with his humans, he deserves the effort required to become the best boy he can be. Wayne would do best in a home as an only dog, and must go to a home with no cats.. He does politely coexist with other similarly tempered dogs, but in a home, he has shown he does not care to share his humans. Wayne has many good manners; he will sit when asked and he has a calm demeanor. Wayne does not have much to say and likes to sit and watch the world go by. Wayne is and will be a devoted human companion, he just needs to find those with giant hearts, patience and time to help gain back his self-confidence. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment.
