Hi there! My name is Maverick, and I am a 4 year old male neutered black Australian Shepherd. I wound up at ASF after I was dropped off at shelter with very little history known about me.
Since I have adjusted to my foster home, I have become fast friends with my foster brothers. I love a good game of tug-of-war and share my toys easily with my brothers. My favorite thing in the whole world is to go for a walk. I walk well on a lose leash (I even heel well!) and have an excellent recall when hiking off leash. I mind my manners well and follow commands. My foster parents have even taken me places like stores and breweries and I will calmly lay by a chair (unless there is another dog around, then we try to make friends).
I’m pretty low energy for an Aussie but I would do well with a family that like to go for a daily walks and would love to have another four legged sibling, but it’s not completely necessary. I even do well with cats and chickens.
My foster parents have learned that I like my privacy from other fur siblings while I’m eating, but since my foster family has earned my trust, I have been able to eat in the same room without issue. I also am a little nervous to be by self and don’t really appreciate being crated, but I have also been much better with this now that I know I won’t be left alone forever.
