If you see a pet you may be interested in you should try to visit the shelter as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are not able to hold pets for potential adopters.
Adoption Process
What you will need:
1) Firstly, adopters must be 18 years of age to adopt a pet from the PSPCA.
2) Picture ID – this must be a driver’s license with your current address. Military ID’s are not accepted.
3) Address Verification – We require two forms of identification with matching addresses to verify your current address. This can be done through your picture ID (driver’s license) and a second document (cable bill, water bill, lease agreement, etc.) with your name and current address.
4) Rent or Own – If you rent your home we may need to verify you have permission from your landlord to have a pet. Most local apartment complexes are on file and we are able to determine if yours is pet-friendly. If you rent a house, we may ask you for a copy of your lease or a letter from your landlord stating you may have a pet in the house.
5) Breed Restrictions: Some apartment complexes may be pet-friendly, but do have breed restrictions. We may need to confirm this with the leasing agent, so anything you can provide can help speed up the process.
6) Adoption fee: Adoption fees for cats & dogs can vary depending on age, medical condition, or special circumstances. Adoption fees are clearly posted on the pet’s kennel card. Payment is due at the time of adoption and must be paid in full. We accept cash and credit. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept personal checks for adoptions.
