My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi All: My name is Garry! As you can see from my pictures and video, I’m extremely cute and just adorable! However, I’m a scared and timid little guy who the Rescuers think I may not have been treated so nicely. So, as much as I want to be loved, secure and safe I’m going to need some time to feel that way. I enjoy being with my Foster Dad and I am learning to trust him, and I even like to sleep in the bed with him (and I sleep very well).

I am not aggressive and no signs of biting out of fear (and no food guarding, too), I’m just scared so I will run away and hide when someone I’m not familiar with comes to my Foster’s Dad house – but I did hang around when his friend came back the second day once I knew it was ok. I am afraid of big dogs – I COULD be OK with a small dog who is not high energy and constantly wanting to be in my face – I would then be just too scared. I think children might scare me at first as well, so it is best I don’t have much contact with them. For now, I’m needing a quiet adult only home where someone is home with me for most of the time. NO CONDOS for me as when I’m left alone, I tend to bark and howl – it is a cute bark/howl, but your neighbours might not think so. I need an adult family who will give me the time and patience (and lots love) to adjust and become the sweet and adorable dog I know I am meant to be.

I don’t like walking on a leash, yet but I will run around in the fenced in yard (if my Foster Dad is with me). I am not house-trained so my Foster Dad is working on it with me. I’m not used to the cold, so I don’t really like but I have been told I will adjust – and look quite snazzy in a sweater/coat. When I went out for a walk, my Foster Dad carried me inside his jacket to keep me warm and safe (I’m that little!). In the beginning I could want to bolt if something scares me so caution will be needed around doors, backyard, etc. – but I do like being with my human.

Here is what my Foster Dad says about me: “Garry is very cute, sweet, and very snuggly. He has trust issues as he fears most things but I have been able to work with him so he will trust me – he follows me everywhere! Garry is going to need an experienced adopter who understands and can work with a dog with fears – in time with the right family, he will come around. Garry has been with me almost a week, and I can already see some changes because he is trusting me. He would be best in a home with 1-2 adults and someone with him for most of the day – he needs lots of love, time, and patience to help him work through his fears. You just need to commit to working with him. I think he is almost ready to start to play but needs to trust me a little more. I’m working on his house-training and leash walking. Garry is one very special boy and will make a wonderful addition to the right home.”

I hope my forever family is out there and wants to put in an application for me. I know I can give lots of love and great companionship if you give me the chance. I don’t believe I will disappoint.

Love and kisses, Garry!
