Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Sweetie Pie!
5 years
35lbs
Hi! I'm Sweetie Pie! Sweetie or SP for short. I'm a 35 pound “pocket” pittie mix looking for my forever home! People at the rescue always say they’re sad dark colored pit bulls don’t get attention on Petfinder, but I’m pretty hopeful someone will see my potential!
I really am just as my name says- sweet! I love being around people and always want to be your Number One! I do get along with other dogs, with a proper introduction. I did find out that I like kids, however I’m still not a fan of cats or dogs smaller than me.
I like my crate and until I'm comfortable in my new forever home I may spend a lot of time there. But as soon as I am used to my new digs I will want to be with you all the time! I sometimes get anxious at night when Foster Mom goes to bed, so if I could stay with you that would be sweet! (See what I did there? ?)
I LOVE going outside and going on walks- Foster Mom says I do pretty well on a leash! I am a total cuddlebug who prefers to be in your lap.
I'm still experimenting with toys- squeakers are interesting but I'm still a little scared of them; I'm sure I'll come around soon! But I will say that I love blankets! If you could have one... or maybe two or three that would be awesome!
I've been working on learning commands, but it's hard. I have mastered “sit” but prefer to sit on the rug vs hardwood. We are working on that. I definitely respond to "off/no" when I try to climb on the couch ?
I love treats, but can be a little picky with my dog food. Definitely check in with my Coordinator and Foster Mom to know what I like! Otherwise, I may take all day to eat my bowl.
If I sound like the right dog for you, please fill out an application through Rescued Rascals! I can't wait to meet you!
Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a teenager or adult dog.
Our standard adoption fees are as follows $400 for puppies up to 12 months, $300 for adults, and $200 for seniors 7yrs and up with cash or check. It includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, heartworm preventative, free vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please visit www.rescuedrascalsil.org for an application.
Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
