PLEASE scroll down and read the ENTIRE BIO. It is lengthy, but has ALL INFO we know. Emailing and asking for more info is only going to hold up your process and risk your chances of the dog you want being gone. ZEUS is in SALEM, Ohio. HE is fully vetted including: neuter/rabies/Bordetella/parvo distemper vaccine/worming/heartworm lyme test/heartworm-flea prevent while in rescue. We do not ship dogs, we do not transport dogs, we do not hold dogs. You must be ready to adopt within 72 hours upon approval.

** PLEASE NOTE: Since we are a shelter, the majority of our dogs have not had the luxury of a foster home. As a result, what we post in reference to their behavior, temperament, likes/dislikes etc is only what we witness here and not in a home atmosphere.
Well, it's finally my turn!! My name is ZEUS and I am about 3-4 yrs old s and 70 lbs. You may be interested to hear how I ended up in rescue? Well, suffice it to say that my living conditions prior to now were LESS than stellar. My friends and I (lots of us) were part of a humane case and all of us found ourselves here at the shelter! We had been living in horrible conditions and as a result were seized and finally signed over to the care of the Humane Society. It has been found that I love all sizes and ages of you humans. I am a purebred treeing walker coonhound so if you are not familiar with the breed it would definitely help you and I out if you go and research the breed so you can learn all about us. What I can tell you is that I am a gentle boy! I would make the PERFECT family pet for anyone that understands my needs. One of those needs being a home with no other dogs. I am a strong willed guy who likes to take charge and other dogs just don't "get me". Well anyone who is able to take care of an 3-4 yr old guy and be dedicated to training me because after all had little to no training before now. I am a hound and so yes, I do have a hound bark and while I am actually pretty quiet right now, when the other dogs get going, I will happily join in! I would greatly benefit from some confidence building training whether it is with you taking me to the dog park to meet new people, or the soccer fields with the kids, or even a professional training class. I LOVE me some exercise....so keep that in mind too. Since, I have not been very well cared for in the past, it will be important that you and I start working on "house" training, leash walking etc, but also that we make sure that I get to meet as many new friends as possible as I am quite the "social butterfly". Just make sure that you have the time to get me fully housetrained, continue to prevent accidents with crate training, teach me to walk on a leash, not jump on counters, all the very very typical "houndy" things that are just part of owning and loving a dog. I have not been around cats so it would be in the best interest of my new family to NOT have any cats. As for the kids, well hounds are notorious for being one of the BEST family dogs out there. Like I said, I am very gentle, and once comfy, I am playful, so I would definitely be a great family dog whether it is with a kid, kids, or just adults. I have a wonderful gentle temperament, a playful side and I am a young gent who is very motivated to make his people happy....and oh treats will definitely win me over. I am very true to my hound heritage and have my nose close to the ground at all times ready to sniff out ANYTHING that strikes my fancy!! I'm a pretty tall guy as you may be able to detect from my pictures so if you have little ones please keep that in mind .
