Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Spike!
Spike is one of a kind!! Such an amazing dog. He gets along with dogs of all sizes and play styles. They have had him with younger hard players and he held his own, he has been with older chill dogs and he was fine, they've had him with smaller dogs and he was fine too.
He is all around great pup
He is such a great dog! If you like big dogs consider this fella. He is great with other dogs of all sizes. He knows how to "sit" and "shake"
His favorite thing is to lean into you and let you pet him. You may get addicted! His fur is silky soft. It feels so good to pet him.
He is a mellow and low key guy. But he can run around and play if he is with other playful dogs.
If you are looking for a companion dog, he is a great option!
This video shows his typical chill demeanor. He wants to be next to you, leaned up against you for pets: https://youtu.be/Q8sO-6_ou70
Here is a video I shot of him cuddling with me outside: https://youtu.be/LyruYwCNfj4
Here is another video of him: https://youtu.be/PWZZcj50oVE
Here is another video of him playing with Captain a dog his similar size: https://youtu.be/idrEhd1FAPw
Here is another video of him playing:

Here is a video of him playing with a smaller dog to show you how he adjusts his play style:

Basics: He is guessed to be around 2 yrs old and weighs approx 70lbs. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, rabies, heartworm negative and has been dewormed
He came to us from one of our rescue partners in Texas.
This guy has been waiting a looooooooong time for a home of his own. He has been in a small rural shelter since April.
We are thrilled he is here and can't wait for him to find a home of his own.
He would do best with someone who is home frequently so he can get used to a routine and schedule.

Adoption Process:
- please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application
- one of our team members will get back to you.
- our dogs can be seen by appointment only after an approved application has been received. We do not have a facility. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding
- Adoption fee helps to cover spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip.
-We cannot place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.
NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.
About Us:
Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Dyer, IN area and partner with 12 other rescues and shelters in both IL and IN that are willing to help southern pets in need.
We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
